Chapter 3

"Hello, anybody home? Hello!" Mark was awaken by a knock at the door. 'Who could it be so early in the morning?' he asked himself. His head was pounding so hard like someone was beating a giant drum in his head. "Mark! Hey are you in there?" 'Shoot it couldn't be, not now of all times. Why is she here now.' The knocking was getting louder and louder. And his headache was not getting any better. "Oh please shut up I'm coming!" He replied rather irritated. "Is that the way to speak to your sister. What a jerk you are." Mark slowly opened the door and in burst a short girl in her early twenties carrying a colourful sling bag and dragging along a long suitcase. "What are you doing here Diane and what's with the suitcase?" Mark asked even more irritated. He shut the door hard and threw himself on the couch.

"First of all, rude. Secondly, sweet crib you got here, I could get used to this." Diane threw herself on to the couch next to Mark. "Just take what you want and go." He said burying his head under a cushion. "Well I'm staying, you need someone to stay with anyway." Diane pulled the cushion away from her brother's face. "Diane please." Mark took the cushion back. "Bro you've been through a lot lately, first Gabriella cheated on you with that idiot Rob. To tell you the truth I never even liked that guy." Diane never liked Rob even before he became Mark's best bud. She always felt wierd when he was around, like he was watching her. "I'm sorry I dated a girl who would end up cheating on me. Now please leave me alone I wanna sleep." Diane took the cushion back and pulled Mark up straight. "Dude! Mama and Papa are divorcing," Mark avoided eye contact with his sister. "Then,"she continued. Her voice became sombre and tears filled her  "Then we lost Carlos." There it was the one thing that made really angry. The thing that made him want to punch a wall or beak down a door.

Carlos was Mark and Diane's older brother. He was their world and everything like they were his. The three of them were inseparable. Carlos loved and took care of his younger siblings alot especially since their parents were workaholics and never had time for them. Carlos and Mark grew up to be detectives together. They made the best team. About four and a half months ago Carlos was working on a case without Mark and he had to go meet the suspect but later that night he was shot and killed. Ever since then both Mark and Diane were really broken. Mark made it his mission to find the people who killed Carlos and get his revenge.

Diane silently shed a few years. Mark pulled his sister close and embraced her in a comforting hug. "Enough of all this emotional drama stuff now, I'm staying and that's final," Diane said wiping her tears. "So...what do you do for fun around here?" "Finish all the food in the fridge!" Mark replied throwing a cushion at her. He quickly ran to the bathroom and locked the door. "Mark Alejandro Diaz, you come out and face me!"

"The kitchen's on your left Ms 'I'm Always Hungry'," Mark yelled teasingly.
