008 Jupiter, The Calamity

"A-A-A Magical Swordsman!"

"Shhhh, yes lower your voice!"

I raised my hands towards her mouth to signal her to be quiet.

"That's my Class, I worked hard to be able to use both the sword and magical spells in battle."

With reason flooding back to Ven, she remembered there was a massive dragon outside waiting for us and she changed back to hush tones.

"That's absurd, normally one doesn't have enough concentration or mana to be able to pull that off! That or they fatigue way too easily. I mean having to keep up an offense with Aura, and defense with Mana. It's too much."

I nodded my head.

"Thats often the case which is why many hate that class or consider it useless."

Ventus looked to be deep in thought for a moment. A snap of her finger later she gave me some interesting information.

"If I remember correctly there was only one player who could use that class successfully. All the warriors at my village would often talk about him, the way they spoke of him was almost like they worshipped him."

I lifted an eyebrow in curiosity.

"They said he was incredibly powerful. When he would fight it would take your breath away while instilling fear in your heart. Unfortunately, he had passed away a long time ago."

My interest was definitely piqued. What did the world now know of me?

Of course I know I was the only Magical Swordsman in existence. The others that attempted to follow in my footsteps failed.

Yearning to fill in some gaps of knowledge as to what became of me, I began to freely ask if Ventus.

"What was their name? Do you know what happened to them Ven?"

After pausing for a moment she shook her head.

"The only thing I know was that his name was Em. People often called him "The Strongest Sword" because he was the strongest player at the time."

"Isn't there anything else that you may have heard?"

"Well...I mean just rumors."

"Like what?"

"Some say he had plans to enslave everyone. I don't know how it would have worked but apparently the Three Kings were forced to betray him to protect us all."

"Really!?"

Seething rage was building inside me. Burning anger was pouring out of my very being. This was the lie that had been spread around.

Ventus looked at me with fear in her eyes and it immediately snapped me out of my angered state. I apologized immediately. She was clearly not at fault, but now I have to know other lies were spread during my absence.

Investigation for later.

"I'm sorry for that I just had a bad thought, but I would definitely not believe those rumors."

"What do you mean Silver?"

"Don't worry about it."

I smiled at Ven.

"Come we have a dragon to kill and the best way to do it is to team up. Will you form a party with me to take it down?"

Without the slightest hesitation Ven responded.

"Sure."

I took her hand in mine and spoke a simple line.

"Ally found"

PIINNGG!

The system updated and it gave me a notice

[Party member accepted]

[Party Members- 2]

[Ventus- Level 97]

"Perfect, now while you cast your detection magic I'll prepare my weapons."

I turned away from Ven who had begun chanting the detection incantation. Closing my eyes I brought out Death's Favor again. It's menacing aura was spreading again filling the small cave. Unlike last time, because Ven was now a party member she was unaffected.

Slowly I started moving the mana I had through my body. Getting a feel for this again I needed to a custom my body to mana to unlock basic magic. This is something I should have done earlier but there is no use in complaining now.

Being used to circulating my mana throughout my body, it didn't take long before I unlocked my first ability.

PIINNGG

[Mana Efficiency Unlocked]

[You are now able to use magic]

[Basic elemental magic acquired]

[Fire-bolt]

[Ice-bolt]

[Thunder-strike]

Now I can actually say I'm a magical swordsman, having acquired some magic, I felt ready now to go and face the dragon.

No sooner had I finished that Ven cast her spell on us.

[Eyes Of Moore]

Raising the sword in my left hand while collecting mana in my right, willing it to change form. Soon my right hand was ablaze with the fire-bolt spell. Now, all preparations are done.

"Ven, Let's do this!"

"Yes."

We climbed out of the of the small hole in the ground and it didn't take long before we saw the dragon in the sky. Sensing our presence again it descended right in front of us. Landing with a loud earth shaking thud.

Black and orange scales shimmered in the moonlight. Spikes coming out of its jaw further increased how menacing it looked. It's long thick tail whipped about in anticipation for the fight that was to unfold.

It saw us and it stood on its hind legs spreading its wings to their full length. Magic circles appeared on the front of his arms. They began extending the length of his claws.

This bastard was getting ready for battle.

It then let out a bestial roar. This was its greeting towards us as well as it's only warning.

Letting us know it was finally ready to fight us.

Ven looked shaken seeing its towering figure over us.

Memories of her earlier encounter with it flooded her system and began to hinder her movement.

I did the only thing I could do and yelled at her in an effort to bring her back to reality.

"Snap out of it! Don't let it intimidate you or we already lost!"

It worked! She was able to break away from the menacing air the dragon had created.

Ven refocused and started preparing by chanting her spells.

I looked back at the dragon. Eyeing it up and down, not conceding an inch in this pissing match.

Noticing the system information above the dragons head I saw it's 15 health bars floating over it.

This really wasn't going to be easy. I grit my teeth and looked higher.

Above that was the dragon's name.
