031 Quell My Fire

A slow churning rumble could be heard from deep within the ground. Even being high up in the air as I was, it was quite audible. It could only be described as the sounds of dead giants roaring in agony beneath the ground.

With my hand extending outward, I could feel myself pulling something up from deep within the earth. I was calling forth an ancient forbidden type of destruction back into the world. I clasped my hand around this power and began pulling. Harder and harder this tug of war began.

The resistance I was battling was unreal. Was it fighting against me? Had it rejected my call to come up? No that wasn't it. A seal was placed atop the calamity and I was removing its stopper. With unbelievable exertion I continued to pull until suddenly-

BBBOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMM

A violent torrent of pressurized lava exploded out from below the earth with tremendous speed. It rose higher and higher until it formed a thick column of heated death above the surface.

BOOOOOOM

BOOOOM

BOOOOOOM

Again and again several of these lava streams broke through the ground and began to devour my enemies. Those below were taken and reduced to nothing. Completely erased from life. These were the lucky ones. I had provided them with an instant death.

However this was not enough to quell my ire.

The surviving group...these were the ones who wished they had perished earlier like their comrades. Molten balls of fire fell below onto them. They ignited everything in their path and very quickly many were suffering the torturous death of being burned alive.

If their luck persisted they could evade them. However if their luck was running on fumes, the molten death would catch a limb or two and melt it right off.

The heat was insufferable and to accompany the horror that was unfolding was the chorus of inhuman screeching. These pained cries were begging for mercy as they echoed and reverberated throughout the massive crater we were in. Louder and louder they got as they fell on my ears.

Deaf ears.

Amidst the chaos I noticed a strange group below that had managed to somehow still stay alive and on the move. It was no larger than ten people but the reason for their continued safety was a magician that was being safeguarded in the middle of the group.

He seemed to be casting some sort of mana shield to protect and envelop the bunch.

I didn't get a good feeling from them so I began to trace their route. My eyes widened as I quickly realized their destination.

They were going for Ven's body! These bastards! Even through the confusion they still planned to hold her body hostage!

Fully enraged again I began to prepare myself to come crashing down on them with all the force I could muster but before I did, a scene I never expected in a million years unfolded before my eyes.

BLLLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOPPPPPPPPPPPPPP

With a carnivorous depravity whose depths I could not hope to begin to reach or even understand, SB came flying from the ground. His target was the group aiming for Ven.

He was moving fast. Too fast for a slime. Was this the result of his evolution? As he made contact with the first individual SB impacted against his chest.

Screams of agony were quickly quenched with the sound of gurgling blood as somehow SB had MELTED A HOLE THROUGH THIS MANS CHEST!

"When did you learn to do this?!" The shock of what was unfolding before my eyes left me beyond speechless.

However the brutality of SB had not stopped there. Jumping from the freshly created hole, he pounced atop of someone else's head. Melting it within seconds.

One of the soldiers attempted to swing at SB only to have him expand and consume the left half of their body.

Fear began to course through their beings. However, greater was the fear I felt towards SB....

I have been letting him chill atop of my head this whole time!!!!! What if he-

Don't. Just don't imagine the worst I told myself.

Instead note to self...Love SB more....

The depravity of SB's relentless attack continued.

He was deftly twisting and contorting his slime body to narrowly escape the strikes of the group of soldiers. He would bait them into coming close before proceeding to melt off a head, chest, groin, or an entire body.

Completely erasing them from existence.

A happy sea of Bloop Bloop noises reached my ears as he continued his offensive. As I squinted my eyes, I was not totally sure because of how far up I was but, it seemed like SB was smiling...

In a deep dark twisted way, it was beautiful...but mostly frightful.

"He truly is a servant of death."

Second note to self, love SB a lot more than originally planned.

Somehow through the scene I was able to have some peace of mind knowing that my faithful slime buddy (who I desperately prayed loved me back) was protecting Ven.

No sooner had I breathed out a sigh of relief that out of the corner of my eye, I caught a magical spear of ice flying straight at me.

Focused once again on the battle proper, I let my hate explode and my aura which had diminished some, was back and even greater than before.

It stopped the would be deadly attack. Rendering it useless as my presence shattered it. Looking down at the direction it came from I couldn't be less surprised. Near Gustav was what appeared to be his right hand man. Silently the cloaked figure was chanting as magical circles were beginning to appear around him.

It seemed he was preparing for something big after having launched that spear...

Should I activate the third skill from

[The Seal Of Auctoritatis]? I thought to myself, let's save it. I still don't know what other tricks Gustav and his lackeys may try to pull.

As the torrented lava began to die down, Gustav started to bark orders to regroup. By the time they did I could estimate that there were roughly 300 soldiers left.

Not bad considering we started from 1000. But Gustav you just made a big mistake.

"Em! So it turns out you may be somewhat of a threat after all with your fancy spells and whatnot."

Gustav yelled at me from the ground.

"But don't you for one second think you will ever be able to kill me, much less Quinn! She is the absolute authority of magic and you will die a million deaths before you hope to reach her!"

I smiled.

"Is that so? If that is the case then allow me to rectify my mistake."

"What are you talking about!?"

"Clearly you don't acknowledge me, and more importantly you don't fear me. You keep mocking me and pretending like you are going to make it out of here with my head on a stick. Let me show you..."

I began to yell without even realizing it.

"The difference between us! I'll teach you how truly outmatched both you and Quinn really are! This is why I was and forever will be the biggest threat to anyone here in Luna! The reason I was betrayed! And the reason everyone in my way will die!"

I lifted Death's Favor high above me and poured into it my aura once again. Like always, it greedily consumed it and evolved into its fierce aura enveloped form.

With my right hand I stretched it over the worms below and I began chanting. Immediately brilliant magical formulas and multilayered magical circles floated about. Surrounding me in their gentle warmth, I designated Ventus as the target and began.

My voice echoed in an almost melodic kind of way. It was a thing of beauty, but more importantly it was a soon to be an instrument to bring about death.

"Righteous ire, as I stand here torn and weary I demand that you become my untainted salvation."

Gustav turned to the cloaked figure at his side, breaking his concentration and the spell he had been working on.

"What is going on!? What spell is he planning on using?!"

"I don't know I've never heard of a chant like this before!"

"Consume my enemies in burning spite so that I may gain unadulterated immortality. "

"What are you waiting for!? Analyze it! Figure something out! I refuse to take any more loss!"

"O-O-Okay!" The cloaked person began attempting to decipher my magic in hopes of countering it.

"Reverse the throes of death circling above and instead bathe me in the beauty of the everlasting spring."

He succeeded but only in understanding what it was.

"Impossible!" The hooded figure spoke with true shock as he was the only one who realized what was about to happen.

"Empower me to conquer over all!"

With the final word I activated the spell that Ventus had helped me make.

[Rampaging Bounty]

The lot of them instantly fell to their knees. For some, they coughed up fountains of blood. Others rolled on the ground as their bodies contorted about in angles that should not be humanly possible. And very few began to bleed from every orifice of their body.

Above the suffering collective a green orb dressed in dazzling brilliance was beginning to form. Visible waves of energy began pouring out away from the victims and amassed themselves within the emerald sphere. It kept growing and growing as more of their life essence was stolen away.

This orb eagerly kept devouring more and more for tens of seconds. The agony of those below kept multiplying drowning them in misery. This went on until it reached a size twice as tall as me. Now fully charged it sped away with an unjustified speed and entered Ventus' body.

She gave off a supernatural glow for a few moments before the radiating shine disappeared. Seconds later her chest was rising and falling again.

Desperately needed relief flooded me.

Good I thought to myself...she is ok again.

Turning back to the lot below, I slowly descended from the safety of the sky in order to face my once enemies now victims.

Having been drained of nearly all their life. Most couldn't even attempt to stand, let alone hold a weapon.

Fear had impregnated the hearts of most however, Gustav and a few others still looked at me defiantly.

I aimed my sword at them. Squatting down I began to build power in my legs. Readying myself for a high speed lunge.

"It appears you still haven't learned the lesson Gustav...Here, allow me to continue teaching!"
