YAEL
It's nice to hang out at the gym, especially when there are classes. Physics makes my brain bleed. I often do not go to that class anymore.
I'm Yael Tenioso, at your service. Senior high school student. I belong to the last section—the F section, to be exact. I remember my teacher saying, "section F is the failed section." To my mind, that means the "Fun section." Our section is fun, and we are super happy that the teachers are annoyed.
Always no assignments. I failed the periodical exam. Sometimes absent. But many times, I do not go to school. I spend time hanging out.
I always get guidance because I still run away from the school services I have to do. It's good that I haven't been kicked out of school yet. They think maybe I'm graduating and leaving, so give it a go. Be patient with someone like me.
As punishment, I was ordered to clean the garbage can. Instead of cleaning up, I decided to walk along a tree planted near the school gymnasium. I slept for a while, listening to the women's clamor during the men's basketball practice game. What do those girls get when they watch the game? Nothing. Those men will also ignore them.
I stretch for a moment and suddenly turned around.
"That's Jessica." I followed her with my gaze. She hurried out of the gym. I even looked away, and to my great surprise, the men's basketball coach stopped.
"Bingo! That's coach Chris."
They talked for a long time, and I could see Jessica's happy face in their conversation. What are they talking about?
It seems like recently, I saw him crying while talking to a man. And not just a man. He is a boyfriend.
How did I find out? Simple…
I heard them arguing near the tree I was hanging on to. The two were so noisy that I woke up. I slowly moved my ears closer just enough to eavesdrop on the conversation outside. I saw the guy left suddenly. The woman cried as the man walked away. The woman continued to cry. I scratched my head so hard and wondered what I could do. Since I did not want to see a woman screaming, I slowly approached her.
"Your face will be tomato if you continue to cry."
"You look like a wet chick."
I sat close to her and stared at her with a smile.
"Smile, please?"
Her forehead furrowed in annoyance.
"Who are you! You annoy me even more!" She said.
I covered my face once it swelled so she could laugh. I looked like a clown just to make her laugh. Such humor is still very popular.
"Who is the best animal on earth?" I asked her.
She laughed again. But instead of asking me "what," she answered me…
"You have such a quirky humor. Though I don't know who you are."
I reached out my hand once to introduce her.
"By the way I am Yael, graduating student and you?"
Suddenly she mentioned her.
"I'm Jessica. A junior."
I laughed because she was so respectful of me. She made me so old.
I would still like to talk to her but, I suddenly saw our principal, so I ran away.
"When we meet Jessica again. Let's talk once again."
She just smiled at me from afar.
I wanted to follow her, but I saw her best-friend, Jackie. I no longer hesitated, so I never approached Jessica again.
Every day, Jackie brings me lunch and money as a fare from going home.
Even though our section is on the 5th floor, she always goes to my room, asked my classmates, and ask questions about me. I was constantly pissed off.
I just left the gym and looked for some time to pass. I still have 20 minutes before the bell rings. I hope the recess of the third year and fourth year are the same to talk to Jessica.
I do not know! I like her laugh with matching teary eyes. And also ask if she wants sir Chris.
