Chapter 5

Fear is beginning to cloud my vision.

In front of me, there are currently six large wolves of different colours.

Smaller than Koray, but still big.

This morning was a repetition of two days ago.

I woke up, heard howling, stormed outside and instead of just seeing Koray, I came face to face with his pack. Or a part of his pack. That, I figured out.

"Koray," I whisper and the wolves lower their head.

Now I'm in total confusion.

"The wolves in these woods are weird," I broadcast fear as I see the wolves not moving from their position.

Are they submitting?

Why?

Koray snarls at them and they all stand tall again.

Okay? What now?

As if reading my mind again, Koray growls and the pack takes off into the trees. One grey wolf turns back for a second, but Koray growls again, making the wolf dart into the shadows.

My eyes, as big as they can be, look at Koray, the rest of my body frozen.

Koray cries and I snap out of my phase.

"So you trust me," is the only words I can manage at the moment.

Green eyes just stare back at me.

I clear my throat after a long while.

"I mean, why else would you send your own pack away," I nervously smile to myself.

"Hold on, I'm missing the main point here. You are the alpha," I think back to their difference in size and the way they reacted when he 'spoke'.

"Um, thanks," my mind is finding it difficult to function at the moment, so I crumble to the floor. I never made it past the stairs when I busted through the door and saw the wolves.

Koray is back to whimpering when out of sight of his pack.

I close my eyes and take deep breaths. Grabbing my shoulders as well to massage them, Python rubs his head on my side.

"Thank you, Python," I scratch his head and calm down. My more even breaths tell me I can stand up, so I do and walk to Koray.

I sit down and lean against the cage. For some reason, I'm looking for comfort with the wolf who just told his pack off. Python also seeks comfort from Koray and slips through the bars.

"The vets will be here again," I sigh as I stretch.

I decide against gardening today, but I still need something to do either with or next to Koray. He will whine again the moment I walk away.

"I'll be right back, okay?"

After eating breakfast and getting ready, I walk out with my laptop.

"Drama. That's the only thing I have the energy for," I joke as I place the screen to be visible to the ones in the cage.

I put on 'How To Train Your Dragon' and lean against the bars of the cage.

Five seconds into the movie, I jump up, swing the cage open and gently sit down, closing the door again.

I don't know what I'm doing, but I'm doing it.

The next second, Koray lifts his paw and shoves me between his front legs. Now my head is lying on one leg while the other leg is lying over my body. Python positions himself like me with Koray.

We are lying in each other's arms like one, two, three.

I didn't realise I fell asleep until I woke up in Koray's arms with Python in my own arms.

With all my might, I try to wriggle myself out of the situation as gently as possible.

I hear Python purr under me and when I look down I see his sleepy face glaring at me.

"I'm sorry," my voice is so soft I could barely hear it myself. Koray stirs when I leave his side and Python takes my place. I close the cage, knowing full well that Python can slip through whenever he wants.

I pick up my laptop and in a sleepy manner walk to the cabin's entrance.

Whimpering from Koray makes me groan. I woke him up.

I turn around to calm him down and when I see the five cars approaching, my eyes dart to the time.

I slept until noon!?

With that, I get ready in record time and by the time I stumble out of my house, the cars have parked.

Demetri walks up to me and throws me his usual concerned look.

"You just woke up?" he asks, lifting an eyebrow.

I look down at my watch and give Demetri a sheepish smile.

"It's the weekend?"

"You sound unsure," I avert my eyes and notice Python is in full view of the other vets.

"Python!" I shriek and while everyone's attention is on me, Python slips away.

Demetri turns around just in time to catch where Python was running from.

"You should keep your cat away from that wolf you know?" he tries to reach for Python, but he makes a full round circle around the vet. Koray is growling at Demetri.

"Remind me why you are a vet again?" I snort as Python successfully avoided him while Koray is still growling at him.

"It just seems like everyone hates you," I laugh as he throws me a glare.

"Everyone around you seems to hate me," he huffs with anger.

I burst out laughing, "Maybe that's a sign." Koray stops his snarling when I finish my sentence, giving the vets a chance to give him food.

Demetri on the other hand is having an anger fit and I can't stop laughing at him.

"Be careful. See you tomorrow," Demetri waves as he climes in one of the cars.

"We'll probably send him home tomorrow," he throws at me as I wave him goodbye.

Tomorrow?

It's only been four days if I'm correct.

The cars drive off, leaving me behind.

Did he heal that fast?

I turn around and notice they didn't change Koray's bandages but removed them completely. That's why they finished in seconds.

The visible scars across his body make me wince. Koray turns his body to the other side, hiding the scars.

"I still know they're there, you know?" I tease him and get ready for lunch.

To my surprise, Koray doesn't start whining.

I fire up a jaffle and try to make myself more presentable than I did earlier this morning. It was quite obvious to Demetri that I was in a rush.

"How about some gardening again?" I ask the two boys as I exit my house.

Koray starts hopping and Python sweetly sits in front of me, begging for his treats.

"No, you have to wait, mister," I threaten and follow it with a laugh as I skip over to Koray's cage.

Koray happily makes his way to the garden when I open his cage.

This time I water the younglings and get ready to remove some weeds when Koray jumps in front of the spray of water.

"It is pretty hot today. I didn't think of that," I smirk.

Upon seeing the evil glint in my eyes, Python darts to safety, leaving me with Koray.

So, instead of working in the garden, I'm spraying Koray with the hose pipe. Koray got tired of being the victim and started to chase me. He caught up to me and used his total weight to jump and tackle me down, covering me in water as well.

After a while, we take a break. I decided to spray Koray down one last time as he is currently covered in mud.

I splash him with water and drag my fingers through his fur to really get rid of all the dirt.

Eventually, I'm satisfied with the definition of a cloud in front of me as the wolf's fur soaks up all the water. I force all the water out of Koray and indicate that he should shake and he does. I cover myself but still get splashed all over.

The amount of fluffy I'm feeling right now is impeccable and he isn't even dry yet.

I rush into the house, grab a few towels and run back outside. I'll have to buy new ones after using almost all my good towels on Koray.

I use one of the towels to dry his fur. It takes me another while to rub the water out for the appropriate way to let him dry off on his own.

I finish off and lead him into the cage to dry off while I shower.

By the time I'm finished, I notice it's getting dark, so I open Koray's cage to make sure he is dry, but he forces past me into the house as I am no match for his strength.

He pushes me into the kitchen and surprises me when he waits for me to eat.

Koray nudges me under the arm as I take out some food and make myself some stir-fry.

As I'm eating he keeps staring at me. I eat at a slow pace while holding his gaze. He's freaking me out.

Well, more than usual.

Finishing, I place the leftovers in the fridge and give Koray a questioning look.

He bites my clothing and drags me onto a large pillow. I fall down and Koray lies down on top of me. Mostly his head, because I won't be able to hold his whole body weight.

"You know you're messing up my sleeping pattern, right?" I throw him a playful look and he just huffs, closing his eyes.

I let myself drift off into sleep.

I wake up, feeling the pain from not sleeping on a bed and with a wolf on top of me. I notice it's the middle of the night with the time.

I rub my eyes with the back of my hand and stretch.

That's when I hear clinging in the kitchen and I notice Koray isn't around me.

Is he eating my food?

Stretching a bit more, I advance towards the kitchen.

All I can see so far is light shining from the fridge, but the figure isn't big enough to be Koray.

When I see a naked man crouching by the fridge and stuffing his face with my leftovers, I grab the nearest weapon, a pan, and scream.
