Chapter 13 - Alliance

Vampire Cave

A bustling noise filled the outer section of the ravine.

"C-Chief!" A vampire ran back to report the news, "The demons are back!"

"Hm?" Velrin turned around. "Already? Did they think of a solution?"

"There over 400 of them right outside." The vampire exclaimed excitedly,

"400? 400 demons?" Velrin asked, confused, "What are they here for?"

"N-No! 400 humans!" The vampire was already drooling, his fangs out.

"What?!" Velrin rushed outside and feasted his eyes on the many blood bags in front of him.

"Velrin." A monotonal voice appeared next to him.

"Ah! Sir Alastair!" Velrin"s eyes glistened immediately. "A-Are those...?" He asked, looking back and forth from the humans to Alastair like a child who just received his birthday presents.

Alastair nods.

"Use them sparingly. There are only 462 of them and there are around 200 of you." Alastair explained, "You should let them replenish their blood for a day before using them again."

Suddenly Reisa hits him on the head, "Commander! Humans normally take about a month for their blood to replenish. They'll die if you only let them rest for a day."

"Ah." Alastair responds, getting ready to unsheathe his sword, "Should we get more then?"

"Oh! That's no problem!" Velrin interrupts, "This is more than enough! I'll sign that contract of yours." His giant smile was still plastered on his face.

Alastair took out the piece of paper and handed it to Velrin.

After reading it for a bit, he bit his finger and let a drop of blood fall onto the piece of paper, bursting it into a giant ball of violet flame and solidifying the contract.

"The contract has been made," Velrin said, "Whenever the Demonic Army requests for our help, we would be there as soon as possible."

Alastair nodded as Reisa went and shook hands with the chief.

Back at the entrance of the Vampire Cave, the humans were escorted into a specific old rundown building and strapped into a giant machine with a silicone tube stuck into their arms.

"Machine Turning On!" A vampire's voice shouted excitedly as he pulled a lever.

Suddenly a loud noise could be heard as the giant machine began working it's magic and sucking out blood with their arms into a giant barrel down below.

"Come on, blood bags, we"re not stopping it until all 10 barrels are full today!" A vampire laughed watching each drop of blood drip down slowly with a splat.

The cries of the humans were drowned out by the loudness of the machine and the cheers of the vampires.

"Thank you so much! I haven't seen our people so happy before," Velrin bowed his head.

Alastair gave a simple nod of acknowledgment, before walking away.

"Squad 0. Mission complete. We're heading back!" Alastair called out.

"Understood!" The squad replied cheerfully, following their Commander as they left the Valley.

———————————————————

The journey back was extremely smooth sailing as they simply backtracked the path they took before.

Within a day, the squad had already returned to the double doors of His Majesty's study.

Alastair knocked on the door, "Your Majesty. Squad 0 has completed its mission. Reporting in."

"Come in." Heliro's voice rang out.

The door opened to Heliro hidden away by the mountains of paperwork on his desk.

"That was quick. Half the speed I was expecting." Heliro complimented, "That's very efficient."

"Thank you," Alastair responded.

"You may all return to your barracks," Heliro ordered, getting back to his paperwork.

"Yes, Your Majesty." The squad answered, bowing and walking out the door.

The excited group made their way out the front door, gossiping and laughing. The atmosphere was as light as it could get, even Enga and Leon were acting like the buddies they were.

As they were about to open the front door of the palace, the door opened automatically in front of them as another large group of around 50 people walked in. Each one of them, wearing a dark purple uniform with silver linings.

Commander White of Squad 3," the person, seemingly the leader, frowned, "Who may you people be?"

His hand touched the silver-hilted sword by his side.

"Commander Alastair. Squad 0." Alastair replied,

Murmuring could be heard from the members of Squad 3.

"What? Did he just say Squad 0? The Ghost Force? I thought it was only a legend! There's only 10 people in that squad!"

"I heard that each of them is stronger than a commander."

"Their energy they're letting out is really frightening… you can feel the bloodlust from here…"

"Quiet Down," White's voice traveled down the hallway. "I apologize for the ruckus, Commander Alastair. We will be on our way." He gave a small bow before the squad hastily moved on past Alastair and his group.

"Huh~ are we really that scary?" Len wondered, looking around at her group, "Well I understand how Commander can be scary, but how am I scary?" She pouted.

Reisa giggled, patting Len's head.

"Of course, you're not scary. It"s just that they're way weaker than you, so the energy we leak out unconsciously affects them more." She explained as the group moved back to the barracks.

"Oh…" Len replied with a smug look on her face, obviously pleased with herself.

"You are all free to do whatever until another mission is given," Alastair ordered, opening the gates and walking into the barracks.

"Understood!" the squad replied, each group dashing off to do their own thing.
