Terrifying Dream

"We meet our soulmates when we're on our soul path."

– Karen M. Black

I was standing at a cliff on the beach. The sea breeze was blowing into my face letting my hair fly behind me freely. The sun was slowly dipping into the unknown depths of the sea and was stealthily disappearing from my sight. The sky was painted with the brightest colors in nature; yellow, orange, red. A peaceful smile was tugging on my lips and I was hugging myself from the cold breeze. I was wearing a light blue frock up to my knees and its blue color has turned purple because of the red color hanging in the air. Still, everything looked peaceful hearing the waves crashing into the rocks. It felt so divine.

"Mia!" I heard a shout.

I turned around but I could only make out the silhouette of a man. He was running and stopped right in front of me. He was catching his breathe bending down. Finally, he raised his head but I couldn't see his face. He was smiling I can say, but his face was unclear.

I caught myself smiling at him without my consent.

"I missed you..." he whispered cupping my cheek and wiping away a tear?

Why the hell am I crying?

"I missed you too" I whispered back.

He smiled again and pulled me into his chest. I gladly wrapped my arms around his torso as he hugged me tightly. There were butterflies flying all around my stomach and I was enjoying his warmth as he caressed my hair. I wanted us to stay like that forever, enjoying the moment.

But like every good moment, it was broken by a rumbling sound.

We both broke apart and searched for the source of the noise. His hands were still around me refusing to let me go even for a moment. Suddenly the strength of the wind blowing became stronger and the sea was crashing against the shore rather violently. I was stumbling a little but his arms around me head me up.

The ground beneath us started rumbling and the floor was cracking apart. Dividing both of us apart. We both reached out to each other but were in vain. We both fell into the sea and my vision started blurring. But I could still see a hand reaching out to me far away from me, underwater. The water started entering my lungs and it felt like I was suffocated to death. My vision became blurry completely as my body went lump and I blacked out.

"Mia!"

I shot upward from the bed into a sitting position. I was sweating profusely and had difficulty breathing. I clutched my throat with shaky hands and panted hard.

"Mia, are you alright? Hey hey, what happened?" Jimin was shaking me and took my shaky hands away from my throat.

I could only look at him as my throat kept constricting. "W-Wat-ter.." I croaked out.

He immediately got off the bed and reached out to the jug beside the table lamp. He got me a glass of water. But my hands were so shaky that I couldn't hold it. Jimin saw it and helped me drink it. I held it up with my hands over his. Finally, my parched throat felt fine as water rushed through it. I breathed out in relief holding my chest.

"You alright? A nightmare?" he asked sitting beside me eyeing me with concern.

I nodded trying to figure out what just happened.

"Wanna talk about it?" he asked.

I shook my head. I don't know what to tell him. There were too many questions going through my mind.

"It's only 3. Go back to sleep" he said pointing at the clock.

3 AM.

I'm not dumb to believe that what I just saw was just some nightmare. There is something more to it. A dream at this time of the night is very...suspicious. Wasn't it supposed to be devil's hour? Oh my god...I don't even know what to believe or not to believe. No, I'm not superstitious but hey a ghost is sitting right beside me. So devil's are also possible.

I shivered at the thought.

"Hey, it's alright. I'm here. I'm right here" he said taking my hands in his and forcing me to look at him. He was smiling reassuringly at me.

I had cringed many times when I heard people say that particular line in movies and all. Now I know how much it helps in situations like this. Maybe karma is firing back at me for laughing and mocking at those scenes.

"You know I'm a big ghost. I'll fight off those nightmares like a knight," he announced flexing his biceps and doing karate moves in the air, "I can be your knight in shining armor" he winked.

Aish...there he goes again and again. Doesn't he ever get tired?!

I rolled my eyes and laid down pulling the cover up to my chest. He chuckled and lay down beside me facing me. This time I didn't turn away from him, I scooted close to him and wrapped my arms around his torso. He became stiff for a moment but loosened up and hugged me back. I nuzzled my face into his chest. He was cold yet warm at the same time. I inhaled his scent of spring and closed my eyes; it's addicting.

He caressed my hair and whispered, "Go to sleep. I'm not going anywhere".

It somehow calmed all my nerves and I drifted off to sleep again.

But two things remained in my mind.

Who was he?

What did the dream mean?
