Fast and Furious

"What are the chances you'd ever meet someone like that? he wondered. Someone you could love forever, someone who would forever love you back? And what did you do when that person was born half a world away? The math seemed impossible."

– Rainbow Rowell

The next day, Ryan as he'd promised started helping me out. He had called some of his friends in USA who have talked about paranormal activities but unfortunately, we couldn't find anything. On top of that, we had responsibilities to attend at the wedding. It was only one day away and our parents gave us jobs like arranging tables, checking food and other related requirements. Jimin saw my desperate self and tried to say that it's okay but I brushed him off as always.

I really wanted to help him and I thought teaming with Ryan would do some good because when we were kids we were always known as an unbreakable duo, when we were determined about something we always got it. And now it was getting hopeless. Maybe we need more time or more information? I don't know. I need to help him.

I was checking on the flowers and settings when my phone beeped.

I took it out of my pocket and unlocked it.

My eyes widened seeing what it was.

Hello! I've read about your case on the website.

I think I have the answer to your problem.

If you really need to know, meet me at XXXX Hotel before 5 PM today.

I'll leave for another country after that.

You can trust me.

Should I go? What if it's just spam?Or worse, a trap?

But it's worth a shot.

I looked at the time.

4:12 PM

Shoot!

That place is a 1-hour drive from here. But I can make it!

I should get Ryan. I can go alone but let's keep him for luck. Even if anything happens I know how to protect myself, it really is worth a shot.

Maybe my only chance.

I hope so.

I rushed inside the house to find Ryan. I saw him along with the chefs.

"...the flavors for the ice cream should be accessible..." he was explaining something.

"Excuse me!" I rushed towards him and grabbed his hand.

Ryan looked at me confused as I kept dragging him outside the room.

"What? What's it?" he asked.

"I found a way," I said turning him around, "About Jimin. A person replied to my messages."

I explained the situation to him and somehow convinced him to come with me.

"What are you guys talking about so seriously?" Jimin passed through a door and came towards us.

"Oh Jimin!" I exclaimed, "Perfect".

I dragged him following Ryan. We got into his car.

"Where are we going?" asked Jimin sitting at the back.

"Ryan, you have 40 minutes. Drive!" I said buckling my seatbelt.

"Okay," he sped up.

"Mia!" whined Jimin.

I explained everything to him too. He was shocked at first then it came from excitement to hesitation. I wonder what's with the expression change. I decided to shrug it off.

"Aish, we only have 20 minutes, Ryan" I impatiently stomped my foot, "That bicycle is going faster than you".

"It's traffic, Mia" Ryan was annoyed and frustrated, "There is no way we'll get there. Let's just give up" he honked and raised both his hands in the air.

"Mia, it's alright" Jimin touched my shoulder from behind, "Let's go back"

"No!" I shouted causing them to flinch, "There's no way I'm giving up"

We stopped at a traffic signal.

"Ryan, get out," I said opening the door, "I'll drive".

"But-"

"NOW!"

We exchanged seats.

I hastily buckled my seatbelt and clutched the steering wheel. I stared at the countdown. Okay, Mia! You can do it. You can do it! Just go for it. There is a reason for that message to pop up and it depends on what you know. C'mon think about all the good things Jimin has done for you. It's the least you could do for him. Yes, let's do it, Mia!

"M-Mia?"

"M-Mia, you look deadly" I heard Ryan whispering reaching out to his seatbelt.

3

"You are not gonna get us killed are you?"

2

"M-"

GO!

I accelerated the car and took a sharp right turn causing Ryan who had not buckled his seatbelt yet to topple over and hit his head somewhere, also I heard a scream from the back. I looked straight ahead and took a short cut that I know so well and speed up to 120 km/hr. I kept taking sharp turns and curves wobbling Ryan and Jimin.

"Put that damn seatbelt on!" I gritted out fully concentrated on the road.

"You definitely are gonna get us killed" gulped Ryan struggling to put the seatbelt on.

"Mia, slow down!" shouted Jimin.

I didn't care as I kept speeding.

"Finally!" sighed Ryan successfully buckling up his seatbelt, "Now kill me".

I took another sharp turn almost hitting the signboard.

"That was an expression!" shouted Ryan.

"Mia, slow down. You'll kill yourself" Jimin tried to reason again which I gladly ignored.

"Oh God," Ryan clasped his hands together and closed his eyes, praying, "I have sinned. I was not a good son to my mother and dad because I left them here and not a good brother because I stole Rahul's bread today. Please forg- AAAHHH!!" I took another turn," Please forgive me, god. I will promise to forever love my boyfriend and will never break up with him. Please forgive me!"

He has a boyfriend?

"Shut up, Ryan" I growled.

I checked my watch.

4:46 PM

Aish!

I clutched the accelerator.

Finally, we reached the place. I parked the car and opened the door.

"Oh.my.god," Ryan slumped in his seat sighing in relief.

"Get out!" I yelled.

I saw Jimin passing through the care door and stomping towards me.

"Mia, promise me you'll never do that" he glared at me.

"No time for that!" I brushed him off and ran towards the entrance of the hotel.

We ran inside the hotel and asked the lobby for the room number which they have messaged afterward. Nodding at the lady after she told us that it's the 4th floor, we rushed towards the elevator. I pressed the button to go up and started pacing back and forth.

The lift stopped on the 5th floor and wasn't coming down.

I cursed under my breath and rushed towards the stairs. Why does this always happen when we needed something so badly. I guess the movies are not lying at all. Just look at us suffering.

Ryan and Jimin followed me as I ran upstairs.

4:51 PM

I reached the floor. I ran towards the said door and rang the bell.

I waited, tapping my feet on the floor.

"Mia, you've...got ...some...stamina" panted Ryan who had managed to catch up with me.

Jimin was giving me a disapproving look standing beside Ryan.

What? I'm just helping him.

The door opened snapping my head towards it.

A man in his late 30s stood there in a casual shirt and pants. He was indeed handsome and had a great smile on. He was not from around here I can tell, maybe from Australia?

"You must be Mia?" he asked in English extending his hand. Yep, Australian accent.

"Yes," I said taking his hand and shaking it.

"I'm Tyler. It's my wife who contacted you," he said.

"Oh, thank you for contacting" I smiled at him.

His gaze shifted towards my back, "Who is your friend?"

"Hello, I'm Ryan. Nice to meet you" Ryan shook hands with the man.

"Nice to meet you too, Ryan. C'mon in" he said and ushered us inside.

Just when I was about to enter after Ryan, the Tyler guy stopped me.

"Is he here?" he asked.

I frowned.

"The detached soul?" he asked again.

I turned around and saw Jimin staring at us and hesitating to come inside.

"Yes," I nodded.

"What's his name?"

"Jimin," I said not bothering to elaborate.

"Tell Jimin to come inside" Tyler smiled at me.

I gestured Jimin to come inside which he slowly did and walked beside me.

The place was quite normal. I expected a spooky place but this was just a hotel room with nothing out of ordinary. Guess what his wife has to tell us. I tensed a little, unknowingly.

A hand slipped into mine making me flinch. I turned around to see a nervous Jimin staring down at me.

"They won't do something to me, will they?" he asked interlocking our fingers.

"No, we won't" came a female voice from beside me.

I swiftly turned around to see a woman the same age as Tyler. She wore loose clothes and had a pair of beautiful blue eyes. It was so alluring and her face was very pale. I can say she's an Asian woman.

"You can hear him?" I asked.

She merely smiled, "Yes and I can see him too".

My eyes widened.

Wow.

"Hello, My name's Grace. I was the one who contacted you" she smiled again.

"Oh, thank you. I really appreciate your help" I bowed at her.

"No, don't thank me, yet" she cocked her eyebrow.

Her gaze shifted to our interlocked hands and a smile formed on her lips.

I moved my hand away from his grasp after realizing that.

"So, take a seat everyone," she said ushering us to sit.

We did as she told and I saw that her eyes were always on me and Jimin. It was weird, of course.

"Straight to the matter," she said, "Tell me about everything."

And I did.

And both Tyler and Grace listened to me without uttering a word.

"So, it's the Park Jimin in front of us?" asked Tyler. He knew Korean. They both did.

"Yes," I nodded.

"Mia, do you...think all of this is a coincidence?" asked Grace suddenly.

I thought about it for a second.

Jimin's soul showing up in a field in my village, me knowing Korean, and only I can see and touch him. It doesn't add up much in any direction.

"No, I don't" I shook my head.

"It's true" she smiled again trailing her eyes between us.

"What do you mean?" questioned Jimin, speaking for the first time.

"It means that none of this is a coincidence." she clasped her hands together in a business way, "You were meant to meet each other one way or the other."

"What are you implying, Ms.Grace?" I asked frowning.

"Tell me Mia and Jimin" she paused dramatically leaning towards us, "Do you believe in soulmates?" she cocked an eyebrow.

Huh?
