Chapter 24.

•Y/N POV•

"How often do you see him,

F/N-chan? How often do you see him without him actually being there?" Yanaki asked me while I filled another pot of coffee at the Sakura Café. I had taken a few weeks off to myself since my last shift due to the overall stress of everything.

"I don't know, Yanaki. I don't want to talk about it anymore, I just think that maybe he is gone. What if he is? What should I? What could I do?" I started to freak out, spilling some boiling hot coffee onto my hand as I was pouring some into a mug.

"Y/N! Are you okay?!" Yanaki asked while rushing over to me, grabbing my forearm, her forehead creased with worry as she pulled me over to the sink, turning the cold-water tap on. "Look, Y/N... if you finally tell me who he is, maybe I can help. But if he's gone, as in... dead, I can't do much. But if he's, like... away from you and you miss him, I'd suggest going to him."

The previous night.

I continued to scream as I stood in my bedroom doorway, the blood leaking from Kai's body and spilling onto the floor, seeping through the oak wood floorboards. More tears streaked down my face as I watched, slowly covering my mouth and hesitantly falling to my knees.

I crawled over slowly, after a moment, and went over to his cold, dark, bloody body. His skin was a deathly grey from most likely being dead there for a while. I took ahold of his freezing hand, sobbing quietly.

Why did this have to happen to him? Him of all people?

Why-

There was a sudden gust of wind before I looked up and noticed that same black silhouette standing over Kai.

I slowly reached towards them, before-

"Y/N? Are you listening to me?" Yanaki poked me, breaking me out of my daydream. I looked at her with a frown before nodding.

"Of course I am. I'll go find him, and I'll force them to let me talk to them!" I clenched my fists, just about ready to finally see him. In the prison. If they'd let me. Surely, as a pro hero they would.

Right?

I thought for a moment, before stepping away from Yanaki.

"I have a couple of hours left on my shift, Yanaki. I'm going to stick around until the end because I don't want to leave you alone like I did during my time off." I said while taking the coffee I was making, then walking around the café to refill anything.
