Chapter 36.

•Overhaul's POV•

"Awww, now aren't you just the sweetest gentleman?" Hawks taunted, running his blade up and down her throat. He might as well have been grating the skin off, I could see the redness it was going from here.

"Hawks, you aren't the villain here, I am. I just need to say some final words to her, please." My pleading tone wasn't my most liked one, however it should do the trick, if Hawks were that gullible. I knew he still had a hero's mind, and granted, I was exploiting it, but here he is thinking he can toy with my woman right before me.

He was as good as dead by the time I'll be finished.

"Final words, huh?" His free hand raised to his own chin, tapping it gently in thought. The wings upon his back swayed slightly, though that did make me slightly wary. Were his wings a sort of lie detector or was I just being paranoid?

"Fine. Go on, Y/N. Final words before I mince you and feed you to my dog." Although his words were full of menace, there was an underlying tone of doubt. He didn't think he could do it. He was doing this out of either spite or revenge.

What did Y/N do to him?

Hawks was quick to shove Y/N infront of me, on her hands and knees. The pain lanced through her whole body as she winced. It looked like she needed some serious medical attention, and quick.

My knees bucked beneath me and I knelt with her, bringing her head to my chest and cradling her gently. Now, what I did know about Hawks, was that he didn't have super hearing.

"I'm going to get you out of here, L/N F/N. Even if I have to die trying-"

"No, Kai." She grabbed my face. "Don't you dare say that. We are getting out of here together, or not at all. I love you, and I don't want to lose you after I've only just realised my previous stupidity." Her tone was low, however had an obvious hint of frustration. She wanted us to work, and so did I.

"I was wrong too, Y/N. We do need to be together." My mouth was quick to lock with her's, before I swiftly muttered:

"Just in another life."

A tendrils on my back went through her chest, and then straight through Hawks'. His reaction time was fast, however catching him off guard worked to my advantage.

I killed two birds with one stone.

I'm next.
