Leaving school today, I was in the car with Josh.
'I'm scared,' I was steapping my seatbelt on.
Josh put his seatbelt on too, 'Don't worry, I won't let anyone hurt you.'
'But Josh, you don't understand! She stabbed a man and probably killed someone else! Because of me!'
Josh gripped the wheel harder, 'I still won't let her h-'
'But it was security! Who's to say she won't come after you!'
Josh looked out his window, 'Where does she live?'
Getting out the car, Josh walked up to the front door. He told me to wait in the car. I could see him knocking on the door. Opening, an older woman came out. I couldn't hear them from here. Whatever they were saying, the mother was all shakened up. Before long, she began weeping and Josh comforted her. I was so curious, yet I was still terrified all at once.
Coming back to the car, Josh got in. 'Apparently both her daughters are missing. She filled it to the police department, and they only saw Sammy when she made herself known at school.'
I immediately thought about what her sister said to me. It also occured to me Cassie is missing. If I was correct about what Sammy said, Cassie was killed and disposed of.
'Is there something you know, sis?'
My eyes began to tear up, 'I think she killed Cassie, her sister,' I hid my face in my arms. Why was this happening to me, just when I thought everything was gonna go good for me. I finally thought my life was gonna turn around. My breathing started to sound erratic. Loud and noisy breathing, Josh stepped out the car. Coming to my side, he opened the door and crouched down.
He opened his arms.
Looking at him with my messy face, I lifted my legs out the car and let myself fall into his arms.
He raised my up so I could stand.
I cried into his chest. 'Why!? Why me?'
He didn't say anything.
'My lifes been so cruel! I thought that it finally was gonna turn around for once!'
I felt John's head move. 'Sarah...run,' stilling his grasp, he spun us around and pushed me.
'What? Why?'
Leaping off the hood of his car, Sammy had a knife.
'Josh! Behind you!'
Going low and rolling to the side, Josh quickly got up.
'Sammy! Don't d-'
'Sarah! I told you to run! Now get the fuck out of here!'
It's been awhile since Josh yelled at me, but I still couldn't not help. Pulling out my phone, i pushed myself up and started running. I dialed 9-1-1.
'Hello, what seems to be the emergency?'
While I was running, I forgot to pay attention. Tripping on sidewalk and scrapping my leg, I wanted to cry some more. 'There's an armed girl with a knife. She's attempting-' I have to stay strong, for Josh's sake, '-to kill my brother and I believe shes already murdered someone already.'
'We tracked your GPS, help will be there in five.'
Looking back, my eye's widened. I failed, again. Josh was lying on the ground. Kicking my phone out my hand, Sammy stood over me.
'I'll protect you.'
'What happened to you?'
Sammy just kicked me in the side of my head, rendering me unconscious.
Opening my eyes, I was tied up. Gnawing on the clothe in my mouth, I struggled to loosen or break my binds.
'Hey Sarah,' Sammy turned on the lights in the room.
I started to crawl away from her.
'I swear, I don't want to hurt you.'
Stopping, I looked at her with a scarred face, 'You killed Cassie, didn't you? And why harm the security guard? AND IF I FOUND OUT YOU KILLED JOSH, I'LL KILL YOU!'
'But, you said why didn't I help you if I cared, so I'm helping you now by keeping anyone out of the way,' she played with the tip of her knife.
I sat up, 'No, not like this.'
'You have no idea though! When I accidentally stabbed Cassie, I finally felt free!'
'But we can't give in to those temptations!'
'Do you know where we are?'
I looked around the room. In one corner was a crib. The other corner had a bunch of toys. 'A baby's room?'
'This is my grandmothers house, but shes been out of town due to health reasons. This room we're in was mine.'
'I hate to be learning this now under these circumstances.'
Sammy looked sideways.
'What are you gonna even do, you can't protect me if you get caught, I escape, or anything.'
'I-I don't know,' she dropped the knife and placed her hands kn the side of her head. 'Maybe I am just like my father.'
'Hm?'
'Cassie said that I was like our father. He's on death row right now.'
'Kurt Hughes,' my eyes widened.
'Yeah.'
'Where did you put Cassie,' something told me that she kept Cassie alive. If I was right, then Sammy has only been injuring people. If that's the case, Sammy has a chance to not be sentenced to death and just be charged an adult for attempt of murder.
'Tied up in another room,' she sighed.
I broke my binds, 'Good, I'm gonna go save your life.'
Sammy grabbed the knife, 'I'm the one saving you.'
'Think of this as an I owe you, for when I had my period.'
'But why-'
'My feelings for you waver now. Man, being here next to you scares the hell out of me. The thought you might hurt or kill me, but even so...I LOVE YOU,' picking myself off the ground, I ran at her. I never was that fast, nor do I know how to fight, but I couldnt just sit here while someone out there is worrying.
'I do too,' Sammg raised the knife, 'So maybe I should cut your nerves to keep you with me.'
I could feel swear race down my face. I was terrified. I wanted to play along and do nothing, but what if Sammy goes and kills someone....like my mom.
Swing her knife at me, it lodge into my right shoulder.
Holding in a scream, I squinted to the pain as I punched Sammy with my left fist. 'Stop! Stop while you can!'
Sammy looked like she was gonna cry, 'I can't, its who I am,' Sammy reached for the knife.
Going to dodge left, I tripped on my foot and slammed into my left arm. Rolling onto my back, I kicked myself back up and cried a little.
'Just stop resisting,' Sammy started at me.
I wasn't strong enough to win. I didn't know any fancy martial arts moves. Nothing. As Sammy came in close, I rammed my head into her gut. Watching her hold he stomach as she fell to her knees, I made my way out the room. Holding my injured arm, I looked for Cassie. She was an ass but I needed her.
Running down the staircase, I tripped on my leg and tumbled down the last few steps. Feeling something warm and wet on my forehead. Dapping my finger on the source, my forehead was bleeding.
Hearing the door slam open, I heard her footsteps, 'I CAN'T LET YOU LEAVE SARAH!'
I scurried up and ran into the kitchen. Looking at the opening to the living room, I tiptoed myself over. Grabbing a lamp, I used it to smash and window. Taking off my shoes and hiding them under the couch, I hide behind the curtain behind the recliner. With myself hidden from certain angles.
Hearing footsteps rush over. I heard Sammy slam her knife into the wall, 'WHY DID SHE HAVE TO RUN!'
I was sweating profusely.
Hear glass pushed aside, the footsteps sounded like they were getting further and further away.
Taking a breather, I came out if hiding.
Walking down the staircase to the basement. Turning on the light, I saw a trail of blood. My heart started to race. Following it, I clasped my hand on my mouth.
Under the light, was a woman. Hands bond behind and ductap over her mouth, it was like a scene out a horror movie. Moving towards the girl, I tapped her.
'Cassie, you awake?'
Tilting her head at me, she was breathing faintly.
I could see her stomach rise and fall.
Ripping the ductap off her mouth, Cassie, started to cry.
'I've been an ass to you,' she let her head fall, 'A-a-and I just wanted to be g-g-good to my sister,' she looked me in my eyes, 'BUT LOOK WHAT I MADE HER DO!'
Moving to Cassie's restraints, her nails were, 'They're torn off,' her nails were bandaged, but the blood was soaking through it. unknotting the rope, I heard the creaks of the stairs. 'Cassie, don't kill her. She needs help and the both of us love her.
Getting freed from the ropes, Cassie touched her wrist that had been bound for awhile. 'I know,' she sniffed, 'I'm sorry.'
Sammy came around the corner. She looked like a mess, 'Sarah, did Cassie force you to help her? I'll fix that.'
'Sammy, don't do it.'
Cassie rushed Sammy. Tackling her, she pinned her down.
Running over, I stole Sammy's phone. Dialing the police, I stood, 'Sorry, but you need help.'
