Logbook #050 - The Ouroboros

Time, what is time exactly? Is it a name, a place, a wonderous word created from a slew of immaculate speech tics? Origins unknown, it is still used in the modern era of science to explain the phenomenon of change. A change happens both actively and passively with the acts of nature and the different species that adjusts it in their creative way.

Many things evolved and devolved over time. As cultivations of many things grew, there was also the destruction of the others, like a trail of torment, it slowly dragged on and on till it slowly stops to a halt. My, my, how generous has the time come to give everything a ticking central of rhythmic proportions.

Staring at the eyes of something that was once a full-fledged reasonable being. At the current time, has become something outlandish, and unhittable for this sort of environment. Anger resorted to wrath, wrath consumed the mind of the being, wishing endless torment on innocents, for nothing else but to feel the pain they received first-hand.

Dragging the arched blade formed by the ligaments of the diseased and corpses of the ground holds, this thing slowly limped herself towards her victim as she looks with very eager eyes filled with perversive thoughts.

Holding defence, the victim held her blade towards the murderous fiend that quenches her, both physically and mentally.

"Give up, all of you. It is useless." The figure spoke in a dragged and slurred manner, as strange cracks and crocks sputtered out of her windpipe, the aftershow of her mutation from person to something. "The world you once knew is no more, and I want to change it."

Grinning as she held the pain at the side of her hips due to countless strikes endured, The Elder of Beasts, stood her ground as she slid her feet onto the slippery goop that slightly floods the seeps of the ground as droplets of liquid splashed about, hitting around the edges of her sole that she used to protect stance. "World? What world? The one you are ruining right now?! Do you know how many countless lives you have destroyed? I am not only talking about the males of our and their people. I am also talking about the resources and the many changes that happened which is declining the probability of living by a margin!"

She screamed, as she pushes her left foot forward and strikes a frontal once more as another one of her teammates distract the beast by shooting her up with blank shots which were easily defended by the black-formed hardening that the thing summoned and created from the goop that produced from the laid corpses.

"Hmm." The thing replied with bare interest as she lengthens her claws and struck upon the sword of her attacker as she made weird fungal-like growths which could move in her own will, similar to puppets. Though weak and can easily be cut or obliterated, it was only a short sigh of protection of the true strength of the thing.

Consumed in strength, she shrieks in the highest pitch which rang and disrupted the team of soldiers who were the only last stand to stop this pathetic fight, once and for all. Even if they succeed, we don't know what else they would have to face afterwards as consequences. But brimming in hope, they did their best to strafe left and right, both diagonally and vertically in many positions to defeat their enemy.

"I know this must be hard, but bear with us." Sherrinford calms her guardian as she reloads her last few projectiles to deter the elements available for the thing to manipulate and use. Demonia beside her, held upon a strange metallic pack filled with a compact high pressured form of liquid, which when triggered with a spark, can unleash a torrent of flames.

Burning off the fungal-like growths which stumbled about and tried to separate the group, she calmly made sure that her team can disable the abilities of this strange creative being that wishes for them eternal suffering as the lights that glowed from above slowly dimmed and the only source of sight comes from the peculiar glowings of the remains of the black things and the ashes that kindled from the burning corpses.

Puffing the last cinder of her stick, she spits off the bitter end and exhales out slowly through her gritty teeth, tasting the burnt ashes of the remaining cigar leaves. Cocking her rifle, Bridgette smiles in a very angry manner and started walking toward the Bio-Mother. Releasing her stress, she sprays her rifle in bursts as the Bio-Mother dodged as much as she could and defend herself using a hardened shielding that was protecting her like a coating film.

Snarling in delight, watching the human struggle with her corrupting conscious. She laughs and taunts her prey as the runic symbols around her body slowly glowed redder and redder in crimson. Like etched with a knife deeply into the flesh of one's choosing.

William bashing a fungal monster that dropped itself against him in surprise, he stuttered and bit his lips before stepping onto the monster and finishing it off, hopefully with a blank shot towards its strange growth, resembling a head.

"Ugh, There's too fucking many!" William shouts as he wipes his sweat with his gloved left palm and walks back towards his partner who was defending his side, his guardian Sae-Yong, who was using her Psionic blade to cut off the arrow-like substances that kept shooting everywhere from the controlled arm of the Bio-Mother.

"Keep your calm, man. We are doing as much as we can too." Sae-Yong replies in a very cool manner, brushing off everything as simply as flicking her wrist among her handle blade.

"Easy for you to say! You guys practically can't die and have a more fluid ....Gah!" Feeling something that suddenly passed his cheek, he felt a rush of piercing pain as blood seeped from the slash. A protruding that was being shot managed to go through the holds of the watchful protectors.

"Shit... I told you, bro." Sae-Yong reacts toward Will's injury then and spins 360 degrees in a very graceful and quick manner before she swings her blade and starts cutting the air, leaving off sparks and strange blade markings on her blade that melted off into putrid smoke. "Take a break, I can handle this. Hurry, go take an adrenaline shot or something, quit whining."

Assuring her partner was kept safe, she protected him as he lowers his back and sprinted towards the blockade of a room which the two medics hid and responded with ample supplies of resources for the team.

"Are you okay?" Doctor Augustina asked worriedly, seeing the sudden head pop in. heaving heavily in short breaths as saliva dripped off the ends of William's bloody lips.

"Ugh, yeah!... just a cut on the cheek. Hand me an adrenaline shot, My body ain't keeping up with the guardian's speed." He mutters with a grinning smile as his sight started getting muddier from the splashes of dirt and various unknown substances that was messing with his special goggles and breathing mask.

"Ugh, okay!" As the doctor searches for an adrenaline pen from her orange-coloured surplus crate, Chau-Min on the other hand, with the help of her assistant Ni-Au was busy checking on intel with a computer, trying to access the buildings power supply and structure of the facility to their bastion.

Infected outside were still plausible to be living and may have a chance of heading towards them, so like playing a game of snakes and ladders, Ni-Au and Chau-Min closes doors and opens new ones to guide the infected away from the tunnels and vent sites and trick them into entering trap rooms that Ni-Au establishes alongside Chau's older sister's Guardian, Herva, Herva Melark, The Bird of Torment, a strange beast that loves to stalk in the shadows and put up traps on unsuspecting bystanders. Ri-Kae was always known as a strange tinkerer, that will be the sister of Chau-Min if you were wondering.

Since young she was a very creative being, making simpler devices even simpler and managing to score things in sudden anticipation. She was mostly blamed because of her Mental Handicap or because she was just special. But to Chau-Min and her parents, she was somewhat a gift family. Leaving a smile of glee even at the most horrendous times, her obliviousness always leads to opportunity and false confidence that can be useful from time to time.

Hanging out at the base and drawing on holographic computer boards, she was stuck in her world as the voice in her, guided by Miss Melark made choices of making up the traps as quickly as possible as the devices travel through a portal Ni-Au made which she picks up and places at areas, she was commanded to by Chau-Min.

"Here you go! I found a few sticks. There's only one too little left!" Hesitating to waste the adrenaline pens over such a small request, out of her feelings in her heart for the boy, she then puts back the others and takes one. Pulling off the cap, she hands it to William, who then sat by the slightly holed opening as he injects himself on the thighs and sighs in relief.

"Yeah, that's the stuff..." He exhaled out in a relaxed manner as he waits for the medicine to kick in fully, rather than the first after-effect.

"Wait, let me clean that wound on you..." Picking up a piece of cotton with her sterilised steel tongs, she dips the white fluff onto a yellow liquid which soaked an amount of it as she then dabs the cotton onto the body, as it slowly wipes away the smudges of blood that were left off drying.

"Be more careful next time, ok." Smiling towards him, she then quickly disposes of the cotton and then sits back onto her small metallic stool that she dragged from across the room some time ago.

"Thank you very much. You alright Chau-Min, what are you doing there? Trying to call backup or what?"

"I am busy placing traps around the facility which will help slow down the Hordes of Infected. They seem to not be able to communicate too well with the Bio-Mother, but they can guess the areas they are heading to and I am trying to reduce their numbers little by little with the help of my sister's traps that my guardian is placing by phasing through the environment and avoiding being seen." She explains softly as she was busily trying to "play" with her laptop.

"William! Get back out here, NOW!" He heard a shout from outside as the place started having heavy stomps that vibrated through the walls and dust started floating about.

"Godammit..." William then pulls his rifle onto himself and then starts pulling the barricade close as he gets out. "What the actual Fuck!"

Hearing a deafening voice that silenced, Doctor Augustina and Chau-Min embraced themselves in the security of their safe space and only prayed for their team's success.

"Aghhhh- Frrghhh~" A foam of pain froths as the leader of Continuum pushes hard with her rod onto the blade of the unknown menace that stares against her with deep red crimson eyes, filled with nothing but pure aggression. Not evil, just aggression, a permeating scent of uneasiness spread through the humid and warm tinkerings of the building as the smell of salty breezes brush upon the cracking holes of the bunker.

"I can't hold much longer... do something!" General Shriway replies as her exhausted guardian weapon holds no more abnormal strength to deflect the blade that slowly plunges into her abdomen, slowly inch by inch, blood seeped out of its inner pockets. With a will to protect her soldiers, she endures the electric pain that slides into her as she holds her staff onto the monster that gave no mercy, not even to an elderly woman. "Mal'chik...." She cries out as her only eye watches over the boy that was sprinting towards the two with his weapons akimbo towards the shoulder side of the corrupted strange thing.

With a slight feeling of fear, the beast immediately retracted her liquid-stained blade before facing the sounds of winds that brushed against her cheek, "You...." she whispered before she grins in anticipation and excitement. "YOU!" She screamed in delight as she then scatters her defence away and dashed toward the boy, claws unleashed, she performs an upper with her jagged mutated right arm which William easily cuts off with Sae-Yong's Psionic Blade.

Surprised by the sudden loss of her fingers, she watched it drop to the ground, a sound of droplets splats onto the watery corpse-infested floor. Distracted, with pure luck, William manages to fulfil his attack and stabs into the abdomen of the beast in full force, repaying her with the same injury that his leader, no, his mother figure endured the past few seconds, with even more distraught.

Thinking it was finished, the others stopped fighting and pointed their guns toward the monster that terrorised their countries for the past few years. The infected people suddenly went limp and floated on the bloody stream of water as the power of the Bio-Mother slowly decayed. Choking, on her infected blood, the Bio-Mother looks at the human male with blurred visions as her wet hair partially blocked her line of sight. Smiling, she showcases her rotten set of teeth that oozed the same black liquid around, as both blood and glowing funguses dripped down her lips.

Tired of the beast and not willing to question anything, William finishes the job by slicing horizontally onto it and halving her from top to waist before hiding the glowing purple blade back to its bracelet-like form. He sighed softly as sweat and mud rolled over his forehead and drenched sleeves.

"Is it finished? " He asks himself as he stares down at the smiling face that looks at him with doggy-like eyes. "Are you finally fucking dead?"

Giggling softly as her chest twitches, her innards exposed to be rotten and liquid, empty and hollow, just like her personality befits, her only healthy pair of eyes looks at the degenerate that manages to hurt her in her most distracted state somehow. Even with her abnormal speeds and strength, a simple human managed to attack her and cut a part of her body off. "Hihihi~...Hahaha.." The sound echoes in the silenced room as all eyes peered at her, like a victim of some sort of murder mystery.

Holding her chest, tightening her bleeding wound. General Shriway sits by a crumpled pillar as she was assisted by the two medics who quickly sneaked out like rats and performed a check-up on her and performed a quick surgery. "Good one boy..." She speaks softly, heard by only the busy medics as the whole veil reveals itself.

"You think you won?" The corpse that lay still speaks to them. "You think, just because I lay and bleed, do you still think you have won this?"

"You already loss..." William mutters towards the Bio-Mother, as he knees himself down in exhaustion and looks at the corpse that faced him. "Give up..."

"You won nothing! Haha...cough cough... Nothing..." Taunting the male, she tells him the truth. "You think by killing me, you can solve your lacking population and the disease that runs free spored about the earth?"

"No, you won nothing."

"You all will die pathetic and alone. No mother, no father, no brother or sister will ever be there for you. Because they won't cease to exist ever sooner. You all shall d~"

Crush~ A sound of twigs and stones, as easily as a piece of ceramic tile, the head of the talking corpse diminished to nothing as its remains floated onto the light watery bloodstream as the liquid black followed against the water current that drained down a grated well.

"I know," William mutters as he walks away from the others. Dropping his rifle and removing his cracked gas mask, he walks up a rusty gritty long narrowly circling stairs as he leaves the others behind.

As higher and the higher he went, the more they looked like ants on a farm, non-existent. Step, step clack...echoed throughout the circular bunker building as the boy exited the institute after a maze of left and rights.

"Where is he going? No one is going to call him back?" Sherrinford asks in surprise as she looks at her colleagues left and right. "Hello, you guys there?" Like mannequins fixated on a pose, they just stood still, in shock as they stared at the decomposing grains of thick sludge left on the ground that disposes of away like nothing.

"Just leave him be." Chau-Min answers back towards her friend as she snips the string that ends from the taped-up wound.

"But~ She's not..." She stayed shut as her guardian rests her paws on her shoulder with a warm touch.

"It's ok."

Rubbing her forehead and adjusting her special uniform, Sae-Yong exhales softly as she assures herself in confidence. Feeling a heavy wrap around her free arm, she notices her younger sister hugging her as she smiles with her glistening eyes, filled with immense amounts of hope. "Big sis, is it done? Did master kill her?" She asks in a very innocent childlike manner even if her body and figure denied her so.

"Uh-hmm, I don't know...to be honest, but it feels wrong" She replies as she released an ethereal tail pulls out and pats the head of her younger sister, which she embraced as she and her mother was safe.

"It feels off." Brigadier Bridgette replies as she assists Captain Shanina Leutenegger who managed to get a crippled leg and arm during the battle when a crumpled-up piece of building, collapsed onto her, causing her bones to separate and jag off crooked. "It felt too easy and fast."

"Yeah, if you think about it." Major Demonia answered back as she looks down the good drain, that seemed to go down in eternity to an unknown area, pitch black and infinite-like. "It is as if, she purposely wanted to die, to release a husk for something more grander."

"Especially with what she said... She said we already lost." Elder Shimaya replies as she removes the flames off her blade and cleans the liquid off and stabs it onto her palms, which caused itdissapear and get swallowed up by a gateway of unknown light. "I mean, she is not wrong. Even, if we did kill her, we can't do anything to revert the disaster that already happened."

"Well, obviously..." Sighing in reality, the Major who cleaned the surroundings up with her water manipulation removed the dirt that stained the place. "It is what purification means, after all."

"Purification? Fuck off, are you trying to make us take such a painful hit?" Sherrinford answers as she shrugs herself, hugging herself as she feels a strange cold wind grasping her wholly. "That sounds too creepy."

"So how are we going to leave this place now? Are you sure upstairs is safe? William left his weapons and all, here and just went fuck-it. " The talkative private questions as she faces Chau-Min and the General who was ensuring nowhere else was injured or infected. "Hello, why is everyone so damn quiet?"

"It is obvious, we can just walk through one of the teleporting gateways if we wished with our alien partners here." Major Demonia replies as she sulked softly and yawns in tiredness. "So sleepy..."

"I guess we can just pack up and leave, I suppose." Captain Bridgette speaks up as she cleans up the explosive shells that she set off to mortar off the monster she had to weirdly face.

"No, we need to ensure proper measures." General Shriway replies. "Contact HQ and the branches, we need assistance to make sure all is well here and there."

"And where's there exactly?" Private Sherrinford questions in curiousness.

"Everywhere." The General replies discreetly. "England, Germany and the other countries too. We need to make sure, there is no one else infected. Get as much information as possible."

"Yeah, but there's no signal here anymore. The gridlines have been interrupted with heavy static and probably broken telephone towers." Chau-Min answers as she activates her wrist-attached smartphone and shows the hologram that is showcased off it. "Also, the other two generals have been silence ever since our fights with the Bio-Mother."

"Really, huh?" Captain Bridgette shakes her head in a confused slow manner. "Interesting..."

"I guess we just have to go back to Continuum and see." Captain Shanina replies as she uses her only hand that still is workable about and presses her walkie-talkie, signalling for pickup. "Crimson, you there? We issue a pickup order."

"Hello?"

"I told you, we have no signal... Do you guys even listen most of the time?" Chau-Min answers back as she shakes her head and rolls her eyes.

"There, their girls. No time to fight, we can just teleport ourselves to the entrance of the building, where we will probably see the boy there." General Shriway replied in the most informal way possible she could.

"Well, pack up and let's leave then." Bridgette adjusts her heavy and huge military bag which was buckled onto her as she looks toward Elder Shimaya and her two daughters who were ready to proceed with the plan.

...

As the clock runs still, a sudden urge of stress ripples about. Tick, tock, tick, tock...A disturbed mind, an uneasy body language and an urge to be free, and spread thy wings.

As the sound of rhythmic clicks sounded left and right, the light that is above slowly rained upon the walking figure as the sun's rays doused on top of its head.

Time is infinite. It slithers like a snake, out and about. Like an Ouroborous, the snake of infinity. All well will never end well, the cycle repeats continuously over time.
