Chapter 21

'Welcome to our monthly administrator meeting. Please have your seats.' Mr. Atlas said. He, Conor, and several other top executives were situated in the conference room for the monthly meeting concerning their project.

'Good morning, gentlemen. I would like to start today's meeting with some reports.' Conor said as he projected the data graphs and charts onto the screen. 'We had run more simulations on the computer which proved to be successful. Only a handful of the sims failed.' He continued. Everyone in the room applauded.

'Well, then it is a great achievement surely.' One of the executives said. Conor went on to explain and display all the other achievements that his team worked on for the past month. He ended the presentation with a thank you.

'Excuse me, Conor.' Mr. Atlas said. Conor looked at him. 'We had word that a secondary research is going on in your lab.' He continued. Conor was puzzled.

'What are you saying, sir. No- there's no other research going on apart from the original one.' Conor replied.

'We had received news that one of your scientists found a new "hole" if you know what I mean.' Another executive said. Conor sighed and mumbled something under his breath.

'Well, yes, Ms Brent did find one by accident but I had ordered her to stop any further research on it.' Conor stated, feeling that he had exaggerated the facts.

'We thought that maybe you really should look into the matter.' Mr. Atlas said.

'Excuse me, why is everyone so eager to know about the hole? Further researches will cost money, money that is severely needed to save the planet.' Conor said.

'But it could be another hope to salvation.' Another executive said clearly. Conor was baffled. Why everyone seemed to have the same notion that the reality in the hole could save them?

'What do you want me to do?' Conor asked in a flat tone.

'Carry on the research on relocating people. At the same time, try to find out more about the reality.' Mr. Atlas said. Conor let out a deep sigh.

'Fine. But if anything goes wrong- it's all on you guys, remember that.' Conor said and walked out through the doors.

Mr. Atlas just looked at him leave and let out a grin.
