Two Families

Serenica had been joking, of course, and both of the women had fun painting their faces with exotic makeup and trading clothes. The healer had never been the feminine type, but she did what she could to make her friend feel good, and that was a good feeling in itself.

Ed seemed to recover from his absent behavior. At dinnertime he was keenly making lots of suggestions about different healthy condiments and spices.

"And I've heard that ginger can be good, too," he said, but Serenica had to interrupt him.

"It's good, but then we'd have to make a separate soup for the bookkeeper, you know how it can be a little bit risky for some female folk, you know…"

"Oh, shut up, I am not made of glass," Myorka said loudly.

"Then I guess we can oblige and add a dash of ginger the next time we make this? Is it all right?" Serenica turned her head to see if anyone objected.
