"I doubt the spies of the queen are careless enough to let their victims sleep without obsidian," Serenica said and sighed.

"Not so loud, healer girl. We are going to meet someone soon. I will find out everything there is to find out."

That someone was Deim, and somehow Serenica was not surprised at all. The cannibal had managed to make himself so useful that he could not simply be replaced. Deim had all the right connections and the right amount of power – he was not delusional about the level of his influence.
