Miscalculations

There was no time to react rationally, and Serenica didn't believe herself to be capable of disposing of the Maroon King magically, even if he was only in his dream form. She took a mental note of his harsh, yet ruggedly handsome features that had probably been sleek and smooth at an earlier point in his life. She looked at his eyes, and she saw something she didn't expect.

Suffering.

Serenica had a dream pistol hanging from her belt. She pulled it out and without even bothering to aim, she shot the image of the Maroon King straight into the chest.

It was a lucky shot with only one eye.

Myorka didn't look too shocked. She had been in so many life-threatening situations that it was a bit hard to believe that she still had the capacity to panic. As Serenica observed her smooth brow and her calm gaze, the healer felt a stinging envy.
