Friend in Death

Having made it this far, Serenica felt like she was not in a position to refuse assistance. The goddess of death was the most powerful being of all – at least, if deadrousers were to be believed. Serenica believed them often due to her unusual position.

"Can I ask questions?" the healer asked her divine guide.

"You can. I might lie, but eventually you will find out…what was true and what was not," the Mother said and gave Serenica a rotten smile.

Serenica could have looked away, but she didn't. It reminded her of a bad accident she had seen near her old childhood home. Horses and alcohol had been involved. What had stayed with her, though, had been the way she had been unable to tear her eyes from the blood and the splinters.
