Chapter 7

When I woke up I was confused a lot. Why was I on the couch in the general room? That meant I slept off and didn’t have my night bath. Did my mom come back home last night? Where did Dave go? The rush of all these questions made my head ache me the more. “I need a cup of coffee right now”, I said to myself aloud.

I walked slowly and purposefully to the kitchen to turn on the coffee brewer and the rough sound it started gave me a nice feeling. That is the most satisfying sound and the only sound I everyone needs to hear every morning.

While waiting for my coffee, I walk over to the leftover cookies from yesterday to munch on. That reminds me of the girls I babysitted yesterday, Isla and Ava. They are extremely beautiful and I can’t wait for when next I would babysit them again. Not because their brother is my biggest crush.

Speaking of, KEN TALKED TO ME YESTERDAY!!! I thought absentmindedly. I was glad Dave and the girls were there or else I would have done something I’d have been embarrassed of today. I sighed dreamily as I remembered how super handsome he was up close.

The smell of the already done coffee brought me back to the present and I walked back to the dark coffee. I took a sip from the cup and felt a quick jolt course through my body. I’ve always liked my coffee that way without any added sweeteners, although I hold no hate to those that do. I’d just say I preferred it natural just like I liked my life naturally. I was never one to want to alter the natural state of things.

Drinking more of the coffee I realized I had to check my phone for any missed calls or text messages most especially from my mom, seeing she didn’t come back from her outing. I went back to the general room to do this and sat down on the couch again.

I had four messages from my mom telling me to lock the front door very well because she wasn’t going to be back till evening. I had two messages from Dave telling me that he had to leave early this morning because he had to start acting on our preparations. He also said I looked too cute while sleeping so he didn’t want to disturb me. I felt this was weird but decided to not act on it though.

After I am done with my coffee, I decided to arrange the house since I had nothing to do today. I played my Cardi B playlist I made especially for chores. Who says you cannot be a baddie and a good girl at the same time? After about 30 minutes of cleaning the rooms and the kitchen, it was finally time to clean the general room.

While vacuuming, I came across a dark looking pouch on the floor. I bent down to pick it wondering whose it might be, “probably Dave’s”, I concluded. Welp it wasn’t Dave’s I realized when I opned it up. Yeah you guessed right, it’s for KEN.

I started to panic about the series of events that would happen to make me return his wallet back to him. Not to lie, I felt happy knowing it would mean I’d have to see him again. I couldn’t wait till then. After what felt like hours, I was finally done with cleaning. I collapsed on the couch again, seems like the couch has been my resort this whole day.

It was already noon by now, around 2:30 pm so I decided to have my bath. After the long process, I walked downstairs to help myself get some food. As I opened the fridge to warm the leftover, I heard a knock on the front door. Thinking it would be Dave, I didn’t mind walking to the door in what I’m dressed in, a big white t-shirt with bum shorts underneath.

Ken, apparently, came to drop his sisters off before his soccer practice. I felt so ashamed with the way I looked. My thick afro hair was not thoroughly combed and I’m sure he would have thought I was so unattractive. I told him to wait so I’d give him his wallet but by the time I got back to the door, he had already left.

Guess he was running too late to wait for me then. That felt like a very rude behavior to me. Nevertheless, I welcomed the girls in and they helped me in the kitchen. I kept things safe for them so I had nothing to worry about.
