At the pollice station

"He works at the police station" I said while having dinner.

Ms. Subedar suddenly stopped eating and looked up.

"He does? What is his name?" She asked.

How I wish I could tell her, how I wish to know it myself.

"Well?"

I looked up at her and realised that I had not answered her yet.

"I don't know." I admitted. "I am thinking of going to the police station tomorrow."

She pursed her lips and resumed eating. I thought she was going to reply, it was a bit strange...and awkward.

"But what are you going to ask them?" She asked breaking the silence.

"Since I don't know his name, I am going to show the sketch that I drew. "

She appeared to be shocked.

"You drew him from your memory?"

Time to flex my drawing skills.

"Yeah...pretty much. I have seen him so much, I can easily do that."

She chewed her inner cheek in thought.

"If you need any help call me. And don't stay too long at the police station, it would have been better if you met him outside his duty."

Although she muttered her last words it was clearly heard by me.

Strange. But I was not in the mood for it, so I just nodded and went back to eating.

The next day I was ready to find the man of my dreams, or rather the man in my dreams.

But as soon as I was inside the police station, it Felt like I forgot to speak. I stammered and managed to form a meaningful sentence.

Their reactions were not helping at all.

"May I know what business you have with him."

"It's personal."

The inspector raised his eyebrows.

"So you know him?"

"Eh...kind of."

"But you don't know his name?"

I nodded.

He exchanged glances with another inspector and nodded with a sigh.

"Please wait " he said and walked away.

An hour already passed and still I am sitting here like an idiot. The two inspectors who told me to sit would sometimes pass skeptical glances amd whisper among themselves. I hope I am not really looking like a stupid kid. I have assignments to work on too, yesterday also I wasted so much time. Is he really coming? What if today was his holiday?

After waiting five more minutes I got up from the chair and walked towards the two of them. They quietened down once they saw me approaching.

"Umm... I think I will just leave as of today." I said and held my palm up to them. "Can I have the sketch back?" I asked.

They exchanged somewhat nervous glances, and then the person holding his sketch hid the sketch behind his back.

"We can't let you, leave." He said in a serious tone.

Suddenly a female inspector held the side of my arms.

Am I being arrested? Was the only thought running through my mind as my heart started beating fast out of fear, but I did not dare to move a muscle or resist. I looked up nervously at the two officers.

"What did I do?" Now, normally in movies the person getting arrested screams this line but I was so scared it barely came out as a whisper.

"You brought in a hand drawn sketch of one of the officers. And refused to tell us anything about where you met him or why are you searching for him. So..We can't let you leave without the permission of this person." He pointed in the sketch.

"Please co-operate." The female inspector said before dragging me back to the chair and making me sit.

"But even if I tell you, you won't believe me." I said.

"Then tell the reason to officer Palash himself."

I walked without any resistance and sat down. Sorry Ms. Subedar but I looks like I will be here a very long time.

But wait-

Officer Palash, Holy-

His name is Palash! Yay! I must text this to Ms. Subedar as soon as possible. But right now I think it's better not to Operate mobile phone or who knows they may confiscate it.

So I decided to just read the book that I received in Ahwa.

Chaitali smiled at her uncle as she offered the Prasad to all the people in the room. Which meant Her uncle and her aunt. She noticed them exchange glances as if wanting to tell her something.

"What is it that you wanted to discuss?" She asked potiely.

"Oh my dear child" her aunt began, running her hand through Chaitali's head affectionately.

"You were so young when both your parents left this earth forever. Since then I have raised you like my own child along with your cousins."

Chaitali nodded, indeed her uncle and aunt both were really good caretakers.

"So it is only right of us to fulfill our last duty for you." Her uncle said.

Her heart dropped. She did not anticipate this.

"What do you mean uncle?" She asked "why are you saying last duty?"

"It is high time you get married dear, your cousin will be of age soon too, we need to look after her marriage also." Her uncle explained.

"Don't worry, we will find a worthy suitor for you" her aunt reassured.

"But your highness!" Chaitali began but was sileneced by her uncle.

"It is how things work dear, you must marry, if I could I would keep you here with me all my life, but I need to let you go, to someone who will take care of you."

Marrying was not a problem, She could marry her love anytime, but the thing that came as an hurdle was the social status. It was a taboo for a royalty to express romantic feelings for a commoner. She was in a dillema.

She decided she would tell Anup everything and her true identity.

She snuck out of the palace when the bright afternoon sun started lowering it's heat. When the market area was crowded at its peak.

"Yes sir, okay sir" the officer from earlier came and sat down on the chair in front of me.

"Officer Palash will be here soon." He informed.

"Thank god" I joined my hands and thanked whoever was sitting above watching over me.
