Chapter 31

To Porto Cervo, the trip north took Peter the remainder of the day, and he arrived late. He left Sousse, and he never looked back. The Porto Servo, night shift harbormaster, was sleeping in his hut. A tired Peter docked the Seadog and stepped on the dock. He banged on the hut’s wall, waking the attendant.

“What the hell do you want at this hour?” said the attendant, displeased.

“I need a dock for tonight, and I’m going to gas up. Can you unlock the pump if it’s not too much trouble for you?” asked Peter impatiently. Slowly, the attendant rose and looked for a specific key, dangling from his hip. Then he slowly walked to the pump, coughing and passing gas, pulled on the critical chain, and unlocked the pump.
