Chapter 28 : Sacrifice

I could feel my legs shaking. I felt weak, my heart stopped beating. I couldn't even breathe properly.

This was the second time something like this had occurred to me... The first time was when I learned that my mom had died in the war between The Barzini and White Wolves.

I just wanted to close my eyes and forget what I was seeing in front of me. God, please. I'll do anything to reverse back the time. This was not supposed to happen.

She was right there. Cradling William's head on her lap... as William clutched his chest and coughed blood, pain was written all over his face and he was sweating bullets.

Jake lowered his gun, his chest rising and falling. "He threw himself in front of Alex. He took the bullets for her. I... I was too late."

Jake was able to take out the two guys, but...

"This is a joke, right?" My legs started making their way to William before I dropped to knees next to William.

"Myra..." William offered me a weak smile.
