Mia dreaded the moment the car would stop because she had a faint idea on what would happen to her. it wasn't very pleasant. She glanced at Adil without turning her head and wondered if he was right about the car having child lock. It wouldn't hurt to try. growing up she always told herself that she would jump out of a moving car if she were ever abducted.
she always thought the simpler way to get out of any situation was to jump out of the moving vehicle but then when she glanced out the window at the speed in which the driver was moving in, she would have to be stupid or crazy first. Mia glanced at the beautiful city and at the beautiful scenery as they sped past the magnificent skyscrapers making there way out the CBD. Mia thought if she was going to die she might as well drink all the gorgeousness in and savour it.
Adil looked across the seat to Mia as she stared out her window. He knew she was frightened of him and thought of him as some murderer, even though he didn't kill Farook, she probably didn't know that. He couldn't help but admire how the setting sun cast it's shadow against her hair making it look more wild and beautiful. her amazing intoxicating scent which smelled like orange blossoms was circulating around the car drawing him in like a moth to a flame. She was truly beautiful and Adil couldn't help but think to himself of how lucky the guy dating her was then he felt annoyed with the thought.
He didn't want to tolerate the idea of her in a relationship or any guy looking at her but he would be damned if she ever found out about that. She was too clever and hard headed for her own good and in there part of the world it would land her straight in trouble, that's why Adil had to keep her safe. he had to protect her from herself. hopefully she wouldn't beat him to death, even though he knew she couldn't but he sure knew she would try.
the incident with farook was a plus on why he needed to keep her with him. Too many things at stake if she went out and opened her mouth. he knew she wasn't stupid enough to do it but he couldn't risk it. he glanced out of his window and realised that they where near the ware house. looking back at her he noticed she had sat up and looked nervously at Aman in the passenger seat and the ware house.
Mia thought ' this was it' as she looked at the heavily guarded ware house with men holding automatic weapons situated at the entrance. ' This was really the end of her journey' she thought as tears threatened to fall but tried so hard to blink them back. she wouldn't give them the satisfication of seeing her tears and how afraid she was at her weakest point in her entire life. If she was dieing, she was doing it like a boss. Head up and shoulders up.
That's how she got out of the car as it stopped in front of the entrance and she didn't wait for anyone to open the door for her.
Adil couldn't help but smile at the brave show Mia was putting up. he had to hand it to her, she was a pretty good actress for he knew how scared she really was. who wouldn't be. she put up a good facade and he knew his men believed that she was not bothered with the current turn of events. going in the warehouse, Aman pushed her forward into the dark building, forcing her to stumble to her knees and close her unfocused eyes due to the brightness which was outside contrasting from the darkness within.
This was really it, Mia thought and started asking for forgiveness from God for every wrong thing she did. tears even started trailing down her cheeks but she was too scared to wipe them away. Tears run down her cheeks from her tightly shut eyes as she waited for the gun to her head, that Atleast would be quick and she wouldn't feel anything. She hoped.
Mia fisted her hands tightly beside her as she waited for the gunshot that was agonisingly slow. just imagining that she she could die at any minute made her stomach do back flips and delaying it made her more paranoid. She just wanted to be done with it for this was the worst kind of emotional torture.
" what are you doing still kneeling down habibti?" Adil softly asked.
" do you have to rub it in?" she asked without opening her eyes.
" open your eyes cara"
" i prefer not to see my executor's face" she answered in a haughty but wobbly voice.
" it seems i wasn't heard, i said open your eyes!" he shouted the last part causing his guards to flinch and mia to open her eyes.
Mia had no choice but to open her eyes. she expected to see dried blood every where and ropes or zip ties laying around with the occasional knife and medical torture equipment sitting on a trolly in a corner. what she did not expect was to see rolls and endless rolls of the most expensive and beautiful cars packed neatly across the wide space. Adil gave her a knowing smirk and popped her lower mouth back up.
" careful, you might catch a fly"
" h-how is this..." Mia stuttered " i-i thought i was..." Mia continued to form a sentence but failed due to shock.
" well you don't have to say anything, we have to be on the road so we don't arrive in the evening."
" um, where are we going?" Mia asked.
" its a suprise"
Adil led Mia towards a white range rover not before glaring daggers at Aman for pushing Mia, got in the drivers seat while Mia was led to the front passenger seat. He leaned in front of her and snapped her seat belt in place. She caught a whiff of his cologne and almost sighed. The guy sitting besides her almost killed her and here she was thinking about good he smelled with his axe cologne.
Her near death experience made her realise how she needed to appreciate things more and here she was appreciating her captors scent. 'pathetic!' she screamed at herself in her head. She was acting like a cheap nobody and she didn't like it. the man beside her looked cold and distant as he started the car and led them out of the warehouse followed by another range rover which probably consisted of his security entourage.
They made their way towards the outskirts where the desert started. Mia was so intrigued that she would have glued her eyes open so she wouldn't miss a thing. They drove through the desert living a light trail of dust in their wake. The beautiful sand was bathed in the colours of the setting sun making everything look ethereal and magical.
They passed by tourists taking pictures with camels while others where riding there four wheeled motor bikes without a care in the world. If only she could be like that, but she quickly dismissed the thought as she knew she wouldn't be normal again unless she found a way out of the whole situation. she started to see buildings in the far distance and as they made it towards them she could clearly see pools. what she would do for a nice long dip in the pool.
Adil packed his car at the designated place and took Mia's hand and led her towards the entrance of one of the buildings in Al Maha. She gasped at how at how beautiful the place was. the desert was a truly magnificent place. She was led inside the hotel while Adil kept a hand on her lower back the entire time.
Mia had never been to a place so beautiful and peaceful at the same time. Growing up in her circumstances she never had a person to provide her with such extravagance stuff and it was so heartbreaking that her first time had to be with her kidnapper and not on her own with her own money. But at least she got to visit such a beautiful country and she could successifully cross it off her bucket list if she got the chance to get out of the situation alive.
Looking around her she noticed how quiet and deserted the place was, everybody was probably in their rooms feeling the cool breeze with their partners or exploring the numerous places she saw while on their ride over there. At that moment she wished she could just lay down on a bed and try as hard as she could to forget the events of the day. If her mother saw her then, she would go crazy with jealous because without even trying she had found a rich guy who had paid for her vacation at a nice desert resort, sort of.
Her mother had what people would say the worst luck at finding ' the one'. She always ended up with a cheating man or someone worse. Her goals where to find the perfect guy would pay for everything she needed, which was okay for some other people but for Mia that seemed to be setting the goals way higher and not to mention that her mother always told the men about that on the first date.
No matter how nice the idea of being spent on was, her pride, ego and feminist side would never allow her. She would feel like she had betrayed all the feminists out there and she had worked so hard to claim the title, aside from that, Mia liked her job and providing for herself, it gave her an amazing feeling of accomplishment.
