The meeting

Conner and Ryan stood outside the large wall, their hearts pounding. The soldiers watched the two new arrivals behind their masks which caused the anxiety between the men to become even worse and Ryan slightly fixed his own mask upon his face. "Stay silent and speak only when addressed. Got it?" Ryan whispered and Conner had to strain his ears to catch what he had said but nodded in reply.

The two men straightened their posture once they saw movement on the wall before a shout was heard, "Open the gate!" Slowly the gate started to rise, creaking and grunts grazing the wind, four men were slowly turning a wheel which was the reason for some sounds that could be heard. Ryan's heart dropped when he saw the familiar figure stepping into the light in front of him.
