Alastor was glad enough that Van wasn’t naïve nor blithe. He viewed this as his better part. Maybe that is the reason why Van continued to persevere, no matter how rough it had been on him since he has no idea what he is since he was a child.
But perseverance lone are not enough to overcome the challenges Van has yet to face and Alastor wouldn’t be around that time to help him. They have their own adventures and they have their own lives to live. This thought had reminded what he had been through for the last years.
“I’ll be fine.” Van said, offering a glimpse of weariness beneath the smile.
It was the irritating reality he lives in. But he had to swallow the bitter truth. In the end, Van looked up in the sky where the clouds gathered in the briefest moment. There are bruises in it, and weighted the air with the scent of the coming rain. The thunder rang overhead before the rumble came by pass his ears.
“Van,” Alastor called to him. Van swiftly turned.
“What is it?”
