By noon, Kate had come back to her house and sat outside. The newly decorated lanterns hung outside cast a dim yellow light. She still can’t believe that she missed every alarming sign that he could’ve been in a trouble, only to know that he was the trouble. Kate heard some time ago about the recent murders in Daletown at the intersection of Kansas and Missouri. She wasn’t expecting though that it could have been him the whole time.

Kate burrowed her face into her legs as she whimpered under duress.

“Boy problem?”

Kate lifted her eyes to see Bella, smiling warmly.

Kate groaned. “Yes.”

“Do I know who it is?” Bella asked as she sat down on her right.

Kate nodded and answered with clarification. “It’s more like a friend problem. I… didn’t know he was going through some issues. I suppose to be the first one who should notice it, but I didn’t.” Kate pursed her lips, her voice faltering.

“It sounds serious. Did anything happen to him?”
