Nicolo’s phone rang. ‘Updates.’
‘We found her sir.’
‘Where is she?’
‘In Rome sir..’
‘Have you got her?’
‘No sir.’
‘What the fuck do you mean no! You had specific orders’
‘She wasn’t alone. She was protected sir’
‘Then you should’ve killed them and brought the to me.’
‘She was shot at sir.’
‘She was what?!’ He bellowed in anger. ‘I told you to shoot everyone that got in your way and to bring her back safely to me where in the fuck did you not understand my orders?!’
‘They gave her a gun sir. She shot and killed some of the men sir.’
‘Who gave her the gun?’
‘We don’t know sir a male that she was with.‘
‘Get the footage. I want to know who the fuck gave her the fucking gun and gave her the fucking right to fucking shoot.‘
‘Sir.’
The knock came at the office door.’ Enter.’
Diego stepped in. ‘Sir the photo Pablo sent it to the email.’
He took it off him and studied it.
‘I have no idea who he fucking is.’
‘We’re trying to find out who he is sir.’
‘Is it the same guy who kidnapped her?’
‘It looks that way sir.’ He placed the second photo down. ‘We got this of the speed cameras sir.’
‘Find him.’
‘We’re on it sir it’s seems he’s come kind of ghost.’
‘An assassin?’
‘We think so sir.’
‘Why has an assassin kidnapped Mia and not killed her?’
‘We are not sure sir.’
‘Keep digging I want her found and I want him dead.’
‘Sir.’
He turned walking out of the door.
‘Are you okay brother?’
‘We have a problem Dom.’
‘What kind of problem?’
‘An assassin took Mia.’
‘You think this assassin is working for someone?’
‘I don’t know Dom, but I know that he had her and for some reason she is not dead.’
‘Do you think he has her for some other reason Nicolo?’
‘It stands to chance that they are after someone else she is close to and they are using her as bate.’
‘So what are we going to do?’
‘We’re going to find this so called assassin and end his mother fucking life so he can’t use Mia to his advantage.‘
‘How are we going to do that Nicolo assassins are like ghosts in the mafia wold.’
‘I am very much aware of that Dom. The men are looking into it. I hope it doesn’t take too long or this so called assassin could turn the tables and do away with Mia.’
Marco looked in on Cora. ‘How are you feeling Cora?’
‘Okay I guess.’
He walked in sitting on her bed. ‘I’m sorry you had to be part of that yesterday.’
‘It’s like a welcome to your world right.’
He smiled he was introduced to all of this at a young age. So he knew what to expect, she didn’t at a guess Vallea tried to hide her away from all of this to protect her.
‘You put the nail on the head. Look Cora it doesn’t always happen, but you have to be prepared for when it does. Daniele is going to show you how to use a gun in our special unit okay.’
‘Okay.’
‘He’s waiting for you.’
She smiled. He pulled himself up kissing her in the forehead. ‘Val would be proud if you Cora.’
She nodded and he left the room she slowly rose off the bed changing and made her way down stairs.
Daniele smiled. ‘So Marco told you what we’d be doing today ?’
‘Yeah.’
‘Come.’ He said holding his hand out. She placed her hand on his, he wrapped his hand around hers. ‘It’s not far so we can walk.’
She smiled and they walked out of the front door closing it behind them. He was right it was a ten minute walk from the main building it stood back from the rest of the house he took her in passing ehr the soundproof headphones. ‘You need to use these to block out the sound of the shots okay.
She nodded taking them off him.
‘Follow me.’
She followed him into he gun range the stalls all lined up with glass to separate them. ‘The gun is fully loaded. I’ll show you how to stand and shoot okay.’
‘Okay.’
He placed the gun in her hand showing her how to hold it. His breath tickling her ear. ‘You need to concentrate Cora.’
She nodded.
He pulled her arm up into the right position. ‘I’m taking the safety off but you must remember to always put it back on once you finish or there will be an accident.’
‘Okay.’
‘Right now we’re ready. Look at the target make sure the gun is straight, what you’ve lined it up to the target pull the trigger. I’ll show you a few times then I’ll let you do it yourself okay.’
‘Okay.’ She said breathing heavy.
‘Just relax okay. You need to be accurate with every shot are you ready.’
She nodded.’
‘Headphones.’
She put them on her ears so did he. She looked at the target and cranked the gun the bulled flew through the air hitting the target his breath tickled her neck. She had to concentrate if she didn’t someone would get hurt or she wouldn’t hit the target. After a few more attempts he loosed her and out the safety on the gun and reloaded. ‘Now I’d like you to do it on your own remember your vision is key make sure you have the target in
your sights and accurate before you take the safety of and shoot. Are you ready?’
‘Yes.’
He steeped back and watched her as she took stance and lifted the gun. She made sure the target was in sight and the gun s was level with it.she took the safety off and cranked the gun the bullet ent through the target he smield. And the target was pulled back. ‘Try a little further back.’
She nodded and he steeped back he watched as she took the shots smiling. Se would get this in no time she just needed to practice because practice made perfect.
A few hours later Daniele told her they were finishing up because Marco was expecting them back for dinner. She smiled she put her safety back on, and Daniele emptied the barrel of the gun putting the bullets of the gun back into the Box closing it and closing the barrel. ‘Once you have mastered how to use the gun I will show you how to clean the gun, load and reload.’
‘Okay.’
‘Come Marco is expecting us to be back for dinner.’
She smiled and they walked out of the gun range and headed back.
‘So how was your first time shooting a gun ?’
‘Interesting.’
He nodded.
‘How did she do?’
‘Quiet well with a little more practice she may shoot straight.’
‘So she didn’t shoot straight?’
‘I thought I did.’
‘Once you over come your nerves you did. You missed at least ten times then barely hit the target but by the end of the session you managed to hit the chest.’
Marco noded. ‘You’ll need more practice. Maybe in a few months you’ll have lost all your nerves and you’ll be almost as good as us.’
‘Were you ever nervous?’
‘When I was first shown how to use a gun it took me along time to get used to using one. I sometimes still get nervous but fear overcomes nerves Cora and you can use fear as an advantage to keep yourself and others alive.
She nodded and they continued to eat their dinner before she excused herself going out side.
‘You done well today you know.’
She looked over at Daniele. ‘But you said.’
‘It’s your first time Cora. We all miss the target, god I did so many fucking times it’s frustrated the hell out of me but I kept trying and I became a brilliant marksman and I’ll teach you everything. I know.’
She smiled. ‘Thanks for everything Daniele.’
‘No need to thank me sweetheart we all want to make sure you are safe.’ He smiled.
