Chapter 53

I look down at her fiddling with the flower on her hat as I turn the dial.

I can't look away from the godawful sweater she's wearing. As gorgeous as my girlfriend may be I don't think there's a soul on the planet who could make this sweater look good.

Apparently she's wearing it to soften up her mom after she lied about having plans to get out of some nighttime meditation session in honor of the full moon tonight. Her aunt set Sunny up by blackmailing her because she's actually the one who doesn't want to attend this moonlit ritual.

"I hope she's not too upset." Sunny nervously plays with her fingers.

"Stop." I pull her hand into mine before her nails reach for the skin of her fingers.

"You're right." She sighs and curls into her seat.
