"You can't." She demands and I frown at her words but don't question her.
It hurts to lie to my Moms but I'll do anything for my sister.
"Okay I won't say anything, I promise." I say and take another bite.
"Where'd you learn how to cook, Neoma? This is great." I moan as I savor the taste.
"Lan. His mom was a great cook and she would make him sit and read out all her recipes while she cooked so he'd remember it. He still has her cookbook in his office at home. It's labeled Lacey Woo's Trade Secrets." She laughs, "Can you believe someone was more dramatic than Aunt Hen?" She jokes.
She really lights up when she talks about Lan. It almost makes me forget how awful he is for keeping my sister from me all these years and for ruining Leo's childhood and innocence.
"So you live with him?" I ask, trying to keep the judgement out of my tone.
"Yeah, we've only been together for 2 years but I feel like I've known him forever."
"Not 3 years?" I ask, doing the math in my head.
