Chapter 4

Two hours had passed since they departured. Ash believed that there were no bandits nearby. However, they would travel for almost two days. Thanks to his parents, which were former adventurers, they had this so called Traveller. It was a tamed monster which looked like a horse, but it was a little differet from other horses since it was born with a huge mana pool and got trained by a magician to use its mana for magical strenghtening. Its strenght was concentraded at it legs wich made it almost double its speed. Ash felt like he was pressed in his seat. He didn't feel uncomfortabel though. At the moment, they were traveling with almost 50 km/h and the Traveller was going easy on his owners since it noticed the child. It could always increase its speed. Suddenly it felt like something was surrounding them, it didn't feel like it would harm them, but the Traveller started searching for the source.

Ash noticed a presence searching for something, it didn't take him long to figure out that it was searching for him, since nothing had happed, excluding him activading his Mask-Skill. Little did he know that the Mask-Skill was hidding itself, too. But Ash was going to notice that during to following two hours. The Traveller wasn't the only one who sensed it, Ashs parents send their mana to search after the source too. Ash was shaking the whole time. If his parents would have foundout that infact he was the one behind the camouflage skill, they would have gone crazy. Dolona didn't teach Ash magic and Stoless neighter. There was simply no possible way Ash could have learded magic. And if they would try to find out, they would end up confused, simply because the thing they recently felt, wasn't magic at all.

[ Skill ,, Mask" is now level 4 ]

This notification had popped up quite a view times since they departured. Ashs skill ,, Mask" was currently at level 5, which allowed him to create illusions around him. He alredy tested the range and it was enough for him. With two meters range he could avoid an attack without being seen.

At sunrise, they could see the capital. It was surrounded by massive walls. Those were obviously for defence, they were high enough to even encourage a bird trying to fly above it. It would be suiced to try to sneek into the city while climbing it.

At the time they reached the gate, the sun was shining in a purple-white colour. The cold air felt nice in Ashs lungs. They passed the gate with no problems. After they entered the capital, Ashs parents headed staight to the guildshouse and did the paperwork. While Ash was waiting outside, he saw a little girl sitting on the floor and she looked like she was starving. Ash waited till his parents came back and simply asked:,, Mom, can't we take her with us, I would realy like to?" he knew this sounded arrogant, but he simply wanted to help her, permanantly. The only thing that came to his mind while he had been thinking about how he could help her was to take her with him. ,, We could do that, but it is up to her. If she wants to come with us, then we will take her, but if not we can't force her." Stoless had said that. Ash didn't know about his fathers past, but Stoless had been a homeless orphan himself up to the moment that had changed his life. A stranger had asked him if he would like to come with him and eventually join their family and Stoless didn't hesitate to come with him. When Ash asked this, he hit his fathers weakest piont. Dolona, she knew about her husbands life, didn't have anything against her husband. ,,Why don't you go to her and just ask her?" she said to Ash. He got up and went over. The little girl looked up to him, even if he was obvious younger and smaller, with almost fear in her eyes. Ash smiled when he asked her if she wanted to come with them and join their family. She then looked back at him and slowly nodded. Ash took her hand and slowly went back to his parents. ,, Well, seems like we have a new daughter." his mother said with a smile. The girl wasn't sure why she accepted Ashs offer, maybe because he had a realy cute smile or because she could feel a calm and welcoming presence going out from him. She held Ashs hand all the time, till they found a flat where they would be staying at, till Dolona would find a better flat or even a little house.

At the evening, Ash did the cooking, while his mother was helping his new sister. She seemed to have lifed as a homeless for quite some time. Ash made the best thing he could cook and spend some extra time to give it a heartwarming taste.
