Why? Why do things change? Why couldn't things stay the way I wanted it to. It makes me selfish... I know. But I had to be. What if tomorrow isn't better? What if the effect of a cause wasn't worth it? Did I ever have the chance to change the future? Is there a future to look forward to? Too many questions. No, questions that may or may not need answers. Earth has changed for the worse. Life couldn't sustain itself in the toxic atmosphere. The toxins from politicians weren't any better. Humanity's plan was to run away and abandon the problems they've created. The atmosphere on earth was clouded just like my memories. Yet, some of my memories were not affected by the clouds. A girl. I remember her. Her name was...

"ᴱᵈᵉⁿ.Eden? EDEN!"
"W-Huh?" I gassed.
I looked around and found myself sitting on a bench near Milky-way milkshakes. It was a place where me and my brother Kim always hung out at. The shy air rustled my silver hair while I gazed at the two looming moons.
"Jeez, now I got your attention. Look, now your food's cold. Have you been feeling alright man? You're been daydreaming a lot lately. More than usual at least." Kim said.
"I- I've been having this vision for as long as I can remember. Like everything I do will lead to the same outcome in the future. It's like I don't have control over anything."
I placed my hand against my heart.
"Sure Mr. Emo."
"No! I'm being serious here. Ugh, whatever."
I got up and threw away my half eaten burger and watered down milkshake. As I peered into the restaurant window I saw one of those advertised robots called Ally's.
"Seriously? They have them working in restaurants now? I can only imagine how these robots are gonna effect the work force. It won't be long before people riot against these so call Ally's. I won't be caught dead with one though." I thought.
"Just hear me out, Eden. It's not that I don't believe you. But I feel like there's a bigger issue than your case of déjà vu."
"Which is?" I said.
"Your love life of course! How is your face so defined but you still aren't getting any?! Like really, you're 21 years old and NEVER had a girlfriend! Honestly I'm worried about your well being so be grateful. Touch deprived? Yep. Awkward? Yep. No drip or style? Yep. Hotel? Trivago. It's tragic! You need your big brother's help. But don't worry. I am here for you brotha!" Kim said.
I stood in disbelief as he laid out what I was trying to hide from the world. A few nearby people muttered to each other about how sad my situation was and how crazy Kim was acting.
"That was too cringe, and that's coming from me. Anyways, It's getting late. I'll be leaving now."
"Huh?! You're leaving already? You're mean Eden. Maybe that's why you don't have a girl. Maybe you should by one of those robo-"
"Maybe I'll leak your search history to mother, I'm sure she would find your kinks questionable," I interrupted.
"Fat girls fight over food, help from big step bro season 3 premium, milf takes-"
"Alright! I get it! Haha."
"Hey, at least I'm not down that badly. I don't know what your girl sees in you. Your hair is shaggy, you wear the same 3 outfits, and you smell like hot piss.
Bye."
"Hold on." Kim said.
"What is it?"
"Speaking of mom, have you even spoken to her? I know it's only been a few months since you moved out on your own. But at last make an effort to visit her."
"Like hell I would." I said to myself.
"I'll be leaving now."
"Hey! Come on! I'm trying to have a bro moment over here!
"What?"
"You may not be apart of our royal family by blood; but, I still consider you my brother. I don't like how our family is right now. You act cold but I know what you're like deep down. You've changed a lot since when you were a kid."
"That's out of the blue. If people don't understand where I'm coming from then why should it be my obligation to clearly? It's not like they would listen to me either way."
"I think your response is exactly why they hate you. Eden, try loosening up a bit."
"I am loose!"
"And hey, maybe if you work on your style you can score one. I'm sure they would be the happiest girl alive." Kim said.
"Creepy, right idea but wrong execution. Relationships are beyond overrated and no I'm not buying those weird robots called ally's. I may be lonely but I have my limits. Just stay out of trouble, okay? Goodnight," I said with a grin.
"Ally, what a joke." I chuckled to myself.
Everyone was talking about my mother's invention. I pushed those feelings down, sighed, and took the nearest air shuttle to my apartment. I looked out the window and saw the reflection of the moon which covered the sky city of Elnus like a blanket. Each island blinked with neon lights while the clouds painted the sky with a mixture of similar color palettes. I didn't have to look far to find another advertisement for Ally's. "40% off this latest model, buy one and get another one free, use this discount,"
was what the billboards and flying screens said. I held my head down and covered my stomach as a wave of disgust washed over me.
"Umm, do you need to use the bathroom?"
"K-kiana!? Hey Haha, oh." I said.
I've always had the habit of showing how I'm feeling with my facial expressions. Even if I thought I was good at hiding it, people always pointed it out. Unfortunately, the person who pointed it out was sitting right next to me. My crush. I questioned how I didn't notice she was there but it was only when I heard her voice that I realized it was her. Kiana Leo. It was terrifying how different and gorgeous she looked with her hair in a double bun and baby curls. She swirled her hands through her thick brown wavy curls and crossed her legs in her skin tight space suit. Typically, anyone in that situation would just die on the spot. But I had to continue the interaction somehow.
"D-do you live close by?" I said.
"Hmm, well I do get off at the same stop you do. How rude, you never noticed me. As punishment, you have to make an effort to talk to me when we see each other at work."
"Umm... Is that even considered a punishment? I don't take this shuttle home usually. Plus it was getting late so I took the nearest one. I'm surprised I ran into you though. You're skills always exceed everyone on our squad. So why would you still wanna be a Scout with my team?" I said.
"Hmm... I don't know, I thought it would be fun I guess. Oh! Wanna see something cool?!"
She held out her hand and pulled out a Katana from her palm. I knew the technology the military had was breathtaking but that surpassed my highest expectations. It made me wonder what other kinds of power Royalty had.
"W-weird flex but cool. Today was my last day of endurance training but I haven't received my sword yet. I practiced martial arts when I was on earth, before the war. Unfortunately that's as far back as I can remember I think. Not to sound creepy, but I've been watching you. Your skills are what I'm trying to match one day. As a Stellar Samurai."
"W-well I'm flattered. You'll get there eventually," Kiana said as her face flustered.
"Arriving at shuttle station D7, please stand clear from the doors," the shuttle's intercom said.
We got off the ship and stood near the shuttle drop off station. Vohrus island was part of rural territory. It had more bizarre plant life exclusive to Elnus. It was a much needed contrast from the city life I had to go to 7 days a week. Since it was Friday I usually would go out drinking with the 1 friend I had, not counting my brother. Maybe if I played my cards right I could make Kiana my friend. But it wasn't like I was content to willingly subject myself to the friend-zone or anything.
"Aww... this is where we go our separate ways." Kiana pouted.
"Why would you say it like that?"
"Y'know, my house is a few blocks down but you should come visit me sometime. Your muscles seem defined and you're not too short. I could give you private lessons, one on one to help with your training." Kiana said.
She leaned toward my rose colored checks with a lit up face. My reflection was in her warm hazel eyes. I never knew that Kiana was that type to act like that.
"There's no way she likes me. Or maybe.. no?" I thought.
"I'm messing with you, goodnight." Kiana said.
"Sorry, but I-I don't need your help. G-goodnight! Please don't hate me!"
I bolted to my apartment building without looking back. Sweat was racing down my face profusely and I was still red.
"What is going on! Why am I acting like such a simp? She obviously was playing with me so it's no use overthinking. Jeez, why was she out this late to begin with?" I said to myself.
When I entered the building I took the elevator to my floor and walked down the obnoxiously long hallway. My social battery was on power saving mode so I couldn't deal with anymore BS. Hitting the shower and knocking out were the only things on my mind. But proving I was different from royalty was my one priority. I had to become powerful. Not for anyone else but myself. It was selfish but I had to be. Screw help, screw pity, and anyone who doubted my abilities. I opened my door and was greeted to the last thing I wanted to see.
An Ally.
