1. Results
Rose was standing by the window thinking about tomorrow. It's big day of her life, wait no its not her wedding. How can she even think Of marring, she is just 17 years old and has so many things to achieve in her life. She wants to be successful and change her life. She wants to be rich and famous but with her hardwork and dedication. She has no intention of achieving all this by taking any short cuts as her father did when she was just 10 years old. Her father left her and her mother and became a toy of the hands of a old lady for who he used to work as driver.. She was quite older than her father but was rich and lonely. Her husband used to remain away from home because of his business and this old began to seduce her driver. After some time the lady and driver got physically involved with eachother and no one knew about it.
Before 7 years the boss died and the old lady asked her driver to live with her as she will give him all the comforts of life but that is possible on only one condition. Driver has to leave his family and be with her only. Driver found this fortune knowing at his door and why would he not open it. After all he is not the only man who had left his family for a better life. That day when Rose found her parents fighting, she was not able to understand what exactly had happened but she understood that her father is leaving them for ever and suddenly she felt like an orphan. That day she promised to herself thaf she will work harder to become rich but she also promised that she will never took any shortcuts like her father did because that hurts a lot. Tears began to roll down her eyes. She saw how hurt her mother was when her father left. She went to her mother and hugged her, wiped her tears off. Suddenly she felt she is grown up in that half an hour. Her mother Marai was crying like crazy. Rose got up and bring her mother a glass of water and tried to sooth her out. Three to four hours passed Rose was sitting in the cornor thinking what they are going to do. How they will survive but then she thought atleast her father had left them this old house. She inside her heart thanked God atleast they have shelter over their heads. Maria was sleeping and she suddenly got up and begin to call Rose. Rose, where are u my love. Rose got up and went to her saying Mother, "i am here with you". Maria sighed in relief. She hugged Rose and kissed her on forehead. Then she got up went to washroom and washed her face and made her way directly to kitchen.. She prepared some food and placed that on table. After that she called Rose to have dinner. Both sat on dinner table quietly and ate the food. After they finished the food and cleaning the dishes Maria came to Rose. She asked Rose to listen to her carefully. She told Rose that her father is gone and will never come back. Its only two of them now. They have to support each other. Rose was just 10 years old by then. She made an expression that she understood everything. Maria told her that she will work hard to send her to school but she has to promise that she will also work hard to get a good education. Rose made the promise to both hetself and her mother that she will work hard and be successful and rich one day. She will give her mother a better life. Now 7 years have passed and tomorrow is the result of National law exam test. If Rose qualified the test, she will be admitted to prestigious university of her state. But only qualifying is not enough, she has to score more than 90 percent only then she can get a fee weaver. Otherwise, even if she qualifie, she had to quit because they can't afford the fee of university. Rose was thinking all this looking out of window and her head was a mess. She had worked hard for the entrance test but what if she didn't score more than 90 percent.
A worrying expression occoured on her face. But inside her heart she prayed to God. She hoped to get more than 90 percent. Suddenly she heared her mother calling her. Rose, where are you. Rose called back and went to Maria who had come back from work. Rose went quickly to kitchen and bring a glass of water for her mother. Maria gave Rose some bags she had bought and asked her if she had prepared the dinner. Rose replied in negative. Maria said that boss lady where she went to work gave her some food and pastries. They had some guests at lunch and ordered lot of food from a restaurant. Rose never liked it, she never wanted to eat the food which has given to them out of sympathy but Maria always tell Rose that her boss lady give it to her out of her will and pleasure. Marai never asked her for any favours. Rose went to kitchen again and warmed up thr food. After keeping remaining food in a small fridge, she called Maria for dinner.
Maria asked Rose that she looks worried and she guessed it might be her results. Rose doesnt have any friends except a girl Ruby in the neighborhood. They both grew together. But Maria is no less than a friend to Rose, infact, she is her only best friend. Rose never hide anything from her mother or it can be said that there is nothing to hide about. After her father left them, Rose made studies only her purpose. She used to study only day and night. Even she refused to play with girls of her age because she didnt want to waste any time. Ruby was her friend because they were in same neighborhood and same school nearby. They both used to go and came back from school together. Rose told her mothet about the results and why she is worried. She knew she will qualify but if she doesn't get a fee weaver scholarship. Marai advised her to have faith. She will get scholarship and asked her not to worry. But deep down Maria was also worried. Her daughter had worked very hard and she will be heartbroken if she will not get want she wants. Both finished the dinner and went to sleep.
