Pain Is What You Desire (Poem)

What's a world without pain?

What's a life with nothing to gain?

A planned future that goes up in flames

Stepping on others to win the game

There's no one but ourselves to blame

Yet we feel no shame

Standards

Rankings

Attitudes higher than a company boss

A grammy

An emmy award

A gold, glimmering trophy

But the soul is the cost

Why do we strive for the things that will fade?

Why do we chase after the false facade?

It makes no sense when the truth presents

Because we came into this life with nothing

And we will leave this world with a new one incoming

Happiness should not come at a price

People making money by spreading harmful advice

The should conquers the want

Not the unfinished preferred over the done

Now, no one ever said this was the lighter alternative

No one should ever say how this is meant to be a breeze

It hurts worse

It wears faster

It has its own crazy course

He did not make it simple on all terms

But He is fair, loving, and firm

Our struggles fill with suffering

Our efforts will feel futile

He hears us

He sees us

He teaches, guides, and steers without fuss

The society building us up knocks us down

We feel like worthless, stupid clowns

We need better

He gives us the best

We want a lot

He is more, incomparable to the rest

We strive for the impossible

He makes it possible

The desires we have come with sacrifice

Strife

Sometimes our life

He is the worth at the end

Not this world that looks to pretend
