Day 004.000
All of them got on their feet with Airlin carrying one bag while Lance carried the other. They started heading towards the exit and Lance suddenly stopped them.
"Now that you know what the world is facing at the moment, we don't need to go through the hassle of walking all the way to the shrine behind your school. Besides I expect you know by now what I'm talking about don't you Airlin?"
"I'd figured for most the most part after seeing you fight just now. You have a teleportation ability, don't you?"
'Just as I'd expected. He is sharp! It won't be too tough training him to be able to use his powers if he has them.'
"Your half-right! My ability can help in moving anything I want from one place to another but it's different from teleportation. It's something like this!!"
He waved his hand towards the entrance in a welcoming gesture and a portal wide enough for a human to pass through opened.
"Space Manipulation."
All three of them walked through it without a word. The first had a satisfied smile on his face, the second was shocked to the point that she couldn't bring herself to use any words while the third was annoyed.
As soon as they set foot into the portal, they were setting foot out into free winds and grass swaying in the moonlight. A few meters ahead stood a bamboo hut with an open entrance and no door. All the three of them walked in and lit a gas lamp that was already there inside for a light. The moonlight on the outside and the gas lamps light on the inside gave a very wild environment as a cold breeze blew.
Rebecca sat down on the chair while Lance and Airlin sat on the bed, both the kids looking at Lance as if he owed them money and they expected an excuse from his face. Lance knew that he had a bunch of explaining to do and that the two kids would be very annoying otherwise. One a cry-baby and the other a sly fox.
"All right then grab whatever it is that you want from the bag and sit back down. I'll explain what I can for now."
Rebecca picked a Sandwich while Airlin couldn't hold back anymore, his hunger couldn't be ignored by him. He grabbed a couple of instant Noodles and some packed omelette rice and chicken to go with it. Lance just grabbed an apple saying that he had eaten some while he was collecting things at the mart. All three of them sat back down in the same places.
The Bamboo Hut was clearly made by a person who didn't have any regard for people privacy. It was just one big room with a bed on the right end of the room from the entrance. In front of the bed was a chair. And to Airlin's surprise there was a full furniture set in the middle of the big room. Which clearly wasn't there when they left. The gas lamp hung from the top in the middle of the room and a window seemed to have been cut out next to the bed.
"Now, where do you want me to start from?"
"Your Powers!" both of them said in sync.
"That was pretty obvious huh?! Anyway…. My ability is that I can manipulate space. I can create pathways leading from anywhere to any place that I've been before. Oh, and depending on how I use my ability, it can be fatal. As for the little hat trick you saw there, I merely applied my ability and opened a portal ever so then exactly around the hats rim. It became a weapon that could slice through anything when in actuality it was only sending of those parts that it touched to a different space, hence the cut."
"That's a lot to take in. How can you use abilities like that?"
Rebecca looked baffled! On the other hand, Airlin listened to him intently. He had a different perspective to the situation than most people.
"Who were those 3 people? And the General that they were talking about, Grey! Is he the one who came to my school?"
"Yes, Michael B Grey. One of the 10 Black Generals and the man who killed your mother. I don't know how he knew your mother. He is the reason why your mother told me NOT to save her. A fight between me and him would not guarantee your safety and in fact I myself don't think I can kill him singlehandedly. As for those 3 men we met out in front of the mart, they were his underlings. They merely clean up the mess that's left by the higher ups."
All of this seemed to go over Rebecca's head. After not being able to ignore her confused look, Lance explained everything he had already told Airlin to her. Once he was done Rebecca was lost for words.
"There is a strict hierarchy followed among the Ancient ones that is not broken no matter what. The top most authority is the King. Under him are the 10 Black Generals, each of these black generals can have any number of subordinates as they'd like. Just one Black General is at the least ten thousand times stronger than those 3 we saw out there. And then come the Elites, they are like what normal humans call Rich or the high-class society. Then there are smugglers and hunters and so on. This hierarchy is strictly maintained by ability, the stronger you are the higher you are in the hierarchy. That should be all you need to know for now. I'm getting sleepy from all the talking I've had to do. Let's get some rest and leave the rest to the tomorrow's us. Oh, and before I forget! Airlin, I'll be training you in combat from tomorrow. You can call me Master!! Goodnight!!!"
Airlin just sat there processing all the information that Lance had given him while Rebecca was still dumbfounded.
"Hmm… Master does have a good ring to it!"
After saying that Airlin went to sleep on another bed that lance pulled in for him while he slept on the Sofa and Rebecca on the bed that was already there.
