Army POV
The next morning was hectic...a lot of rushing. I just watched as Aloha rushed around, he was late for something apparently but when I checked my phone I hadn't set a reminder for it. He didn't even tell me where he was going before he was out the door and down the street. I watched him run in the direction of downtown. Probably a turf war. That's what he gets for sleeping in all the time. I sighed, turning away from the window.
I kept the curtains open because it's not like I care and it's not cold outside yet. It wouldn't get cold for a few more months. I smiled and walked into the kitchen. Aloha had left a little to nothing mess, as he had hurried to clean after himself. I decided to finish cleaning up after him.
What was he in a rush for anyway? I don't think I've seen him dart around like that before. What even was today? I glanced at my phone, turning it on with a simple touch.
It was only Thursday? Not Friday, so it's not a party thing or whatever. Monday's he doesn't get up til around noon because of the previous night party. But, Tuesday through Thursday he doesn't do things like that due to Turf Wars.
That might be it. Didn't Diver say they had a turf war? Did he mention the time? I thought about it for a moment while cleaning the counters off with just a rag.
I decided I couldn't remember so instead I stopped thinking about it and called Forge. She answered almost immediately, it was kind of scary sometimes.
"Hello?" Her voice came over the small speaker in the phone.
"Hello, Forge," I answer.
"Oh! Sir! Good...um...what time is it? Oh! Morning! Good morning!" She greets. I assumed she just woke up, she sure sounded like it. "How can I help you, sir?"
"Well, Forge, what is everyone else doing today?" I ask her.
"Oh, sir, they aren't doing anything. We were going to all hang out downtown. I assumed you would be with Aloha."
"Well, yes, but he has turf wars today. May I join you instead?" I ask her.
"Of course, sir! Hey, why you're at it, why don't we play some turf too?"
"Sure," I agree, picking up the phone while throwing the small white rag- that's now a shade of light grey- into the laundry basket. "When do you want to meet?"
"Whenever is fine. How about in thirty minutes?" She asks.
"Mm, sure thing, Forge, see you then," I say. She hums and hangs up the phone. I went upstairs to get changed.
Aloha POV
I darted down the streets, that were empty currently, for the most part. I did get a few surprised looks from joggers when I darted past them and kept running down the street.
Eventually, I found them! "Yo!" I greet, slowing down and walking up to my teammates who smiled.
"Yo', Loa!" Diver greeted while the girl's just waved.
"Heya! We ready?" I ask them. Diver nods.
"Yeah, sorry, we shouldn't just tell you to lie to Army and come out here without an explanation...it's just you both seemed to not remember...?" Diver's voice trailed off, waiting for my response. I thought for a moment about what he could possibly be talking about...
"Uhm, no?" I finally say, confused.
"Ugh, I knew it! He forgot!" Octo whines. "How could you forget!? We have an evaluation to keep our rank, stupid!" Octo scolds. She only says things like "stupid" when she's nervous.
"Uh...ok? Why're you so nervous? I mean...it's not that bad...what could possibly go bad about this?" I ask them, confused at the panic.
"WHAT COULD GO WRONG!?" Octo screams in frustration. "YOU DID NOT JUST ASK THAT! LET ME AT HIM!" Diver grabs her, pulling her back. I look at her, a little freaked out.
"C-Cool it, it's just an evaluation. Who's the new team?" I ask her. She stops for a second.
"Where did you get that from? New team? Who ever said there was a new team?" She asks me.
"You did," I tell her. She opens her mouth to object, I stop her. "Your actions did. First of all you never freak out unless something happened and you wouldn't be this nervous if there wasn't a new team that we haven't gone against that are rumored to be really good. Who is it?" I ask her once more.
"Ahh...f-fair enough. They call themselves Team Joy. Apparently their leader is...well...Joy. She's rumored to be very good at dodging and quick aiming. Her twin sister, Jello, is a really good sniper, according to rumors. Also, they have both of their boyfriend's as their teammates...so, they know each other really well. Not to mention they're teaming up with an another team. Just like us. We're teamed up with Team Orange...Army's team. So, you two will have to lead us all. Both teams...it's a 8v8. I'm kinda REALLY NERVOUS!" She shouts.
"Okay...well, who's the team they're with?" I ask, trying to keep a smile off my face. I was a little...no- a extremely happy about the fact Army was teaming up with us! Yes!
"The team that they're with? Oh, that's easy...it's a mix of two different teams. Two members from X-Blood and two members from Team Emperor. According to Emperor, whom we bugged about this, Vintage wouldn't leave him alone so finally he let the peasant have what he wanted. He told his brother about it and his brother was enthusiastic about it, so, then, they teamed up. It's I think Double Egg, Red Sole, N-Pacer, and Eging Jr. It'll be a tough team."
"That's all you know?" I ask her, double checking. She nods.
"...Yeah, that's all. What're we going to do!?" She yells at me. Diver still had a grip on her so she wouldn't go crazy or attack anyone. She's kinda wild sometimes...
"Oh, well, that's easy. Let's go practice!" I tell her. She gathers her confidence and nods.
"Y-Yeah, that's a good idea! Let's go practice!" She says. We were off to go practice. While we were walking I couldn't help but wonder what Army was doing right now...?
Army POV
I met up with Forge, who smiled and waved me over. White Sailor was standing with her, Blue Sailor off to the side, reading a book he brought.
"Hello!" I greet them.
"Good morning, sir!" They chime back. Oh...right...I usually say good morning, don't I? Damn it, Aloha, now you're messing up my speech too? Ha...
"So, where are we heading?" Blue spoke up.
"Turf wars, I think," I said. Forge nods, leading the way ahead of us. Then, she stops and smiles back at me. I give her a confused look.
"Well! Guess who it is!" She says, pointing over to a group of squids. I looked over at them. It was Team Pink. They had just walked out of a turf war, Octo was covered in dark purple ink and Aloha and his other teammates were laughing.
"Oh, it's Aloha!" White says, running across the plaza, towards them. The rest of us follow.
Aloha turned to see White, he must've heard her running up to him. "Oh...! What's up?" He asks White who smiles at him, shaking her head.
"Nothing much! How about you?" She asks him. He looks back at his team. Octo was still wiping paint off of herself and then she glares at Aloha. He gave her a nervous look.
"Oh...um...n-nothing much..." He answers, looking at Octo who jumps at him. He jumped back in instincts. Octo got paint on him and on White who laughed and smeared some on Blue's face. He glared at her while she just laughed some more. I sighed.
"Hey!" Octo shouts at Aloha who had tricked her into getting more paint on her than before. She had ran into another squid, who splashed paint on her. She was drenched. "I-I'm sorry." She says to the opposing squid before turning on her heels to her leader.
"ALOHA?" She asks in a daring, cold voice. He laughs at her. "ALOHA~!! T-That's not funny!!!" She whines, stomping her foot in embarrassment. He snickered, throwing a towel that Diver handed him at her.
"Aloha, hey," I greeted him, he turns and smiles at me, lovingly. "Well...do you guys want to play a match with us? We were just going to start one...it'd be good practice," I said.
"Yes!" Aloha blurted with too much urgency before catching himself and adding, "W-We would love to~!" He says, his face lightly tinted with a small blush.
I snickered quietly. No one else had noticed his sudden eagerness to join my team, it's a good thing too. We both walked behind our teams and once we were inside, I turned to him and he smiles at me, giving me a small kiss.
We intertwined our hands and walked together to the turf war map we were playing on. I loved being around Aloha and making him happy...but, my team would do our best against him as well! I refuse to pretend to mess up or be sloppy. I'll just show him how well we work together, and for some reason I just knew he was thinking the same thing...
Before we split up he gave me a smirk...I knew then, he was going all out...I smirked back at him and we both split up with our teams to our "spawns" to start the turf battle!
