(2) Calling a Soulmate

As I entered my room remembering the conversation with dad. He had asked me to invite Alex for a discussion with him, so that they could talk about the demons, although I don't think she knows.

"Cathy Cathy!" Azrail runs up to me shoving my phone at me "Alex is calling you!" I grab my phone and look at the screen.

(Alex<3<3 is calling you)

It was a picture of us together when we got engaged in her mandatory tour of the surrounding kingdoms that she brought me along for.

"Cathy?" I hear her and suddenly all my problems melted and I become whole again. I had missed her so much

"Hey you," I greet her with a grin, and even though I can't hear her smile I know she did.

"My beautiful knight come rescue me from my demise" she begins to say, I roll my eyes she's always so dramatic when she's with her parents.

"What'd they-"

"Alex! Alex!" Ariel called out tugging on my shirt for me to bring the phone closer to her

"Is that Ariel! Hi!"

"I want to see your face!" She answered demanding me to change the screen. When I changed it to facecall I saw Ariel's face glow "Alex!!!" She bursted, and snatched the phone. it was amazing to see her so openly happy. Alex smiled and brought her camera closer to her face. I noticed her dark blue hair was wet, she must've taken a shower

"Ariel!!!" She responded to Ariel's excitement.

I crack a smile when I see her listening to Ariel rant about her day, knowing full well she'll say 'sounds like you had a smashing time!' Like she always does after Ariel and Azrail tell her about their adventures.

"it sounds like a smashing time Ariel! You've got to give me one of your days if they're so fun!" She responded. Ariel nodded giggling and smiling. "Ariel I love you but you must show me the love of my life now because I miss her so much," Ariel laughed

"But you just saw her today!" She said, Alex smiled and nodded

"You are very right but every second away from her is an eternity of suffering!"Alex said holding a hand over her heart as if she was going to faint if Ariel didn't complete her request. Ariel scrunched up her nose at such cheesiness.

"Grosss," she responded handing me the phone and walking over to the bed where Azrail was playing on his tablet.

"Hey beautiful<3" Alex said with a grin. My heart fluttered and I felt light on my feet

"You're so cheesy," was all I could respond with. Alex lightly chuckled and blew a kiss.

"You love me," she replied teasingly. I rolled my eyes and nodded slowly

"It is a burden indeed, a curse if I may,"

"You may," she laughed softly and leaned on her hand "how's Belmi Manor? In ruins because of your departure?" She asked curious. I laughed and shook my head

"The maids and butlers are safe as long as they stay out of my dads study, Reilly is knocked out somewhere out of exhaustion and the little devils are with me, how's the parents?" I ask already knowing the answer. Alex rolled her eyes and frowned.

"They're as them as always. Acting like I'm running away from running the kingdom responsibilities when I just go around freaking kissing babies. That's all I do! Then they go around acting like everything I do is a bad decision! Like I can't even exist without being told I did it wrong! They just make my blood boil!" She said frustrated.

"Breath babe," I softly say as I begin exhaling and inhaling along with her. After a few she opens her eyes and smiled warmly.

Thank you," she says softly

"By the way, my father wants to have a talk with you," I begin saying. Alex's face tensed up

"Did I do something wrong??" She began thinking and making that face she does when she's thinking too hard. With her eye brows almost touching, her nose crunched up, and the biting lip thing.

"Alex you've done nothing wrong, he just wants to talk to you about something," I respond not wanting to ruin dads entire presentation. I'm sure he's got plans to get her up to speed. Alex sighs and she relaxes

"Oh, well in that case I'm free any day at any tim-"

"Alexis it's late! who are you calling?" I heard a voice interrupt her. It sounded like Queen Salli. I stay quiet.

"It's Cathrine mother," Alex responds composed and focused. It always astonishes me how different Alex's personality is with me compared to other people like her parents. Always so formal, distant and cold, something she most certainly got from her parents.

"Oh I see. Hello Cathrine," she greets me coldly. I bow my head

"Hello Queen Salli it's a great pleasure and joy to see you well," I respond warmly but formally.

If you don't mind I wish to speak to Alexis alone," she calls to me and my heart sunk. It's okay I reassure myself everything's okay.

"Yes of course Queen Salli, I don't mind at all, I'll talk to you later Alex, I love you,"

"Talk to you later Cathy," I could hear Alex distressed with a hint of fear. But why? When she clicked I sighed and walked over to my bed where the two twins lay asleep across the entire bed. They've must've of so excited it tired them out. I wonder what Queen Salli wanted to talk about with Alex. It's rare when they visit her in the West wing. I move the twins to one side of the bed and tuck them in. I need to start unpacking before the maids start to, I might just ask father to give them a break, they've had to deal with Ariel and Azrail for the months I've been gone, it's only fair.

As I begin to unpack I hear a buzzing coming from my bed. Alex? When I check the screen it was a text message.

Alex<3<3: babe I'll have to postpone that meeting with your father. My parents are sending me to Afnira, to represent them in king Abrafo's ball to celebrate his birthday. I'm sorry:(

Me: When do you leave? So I can see you before hand.

Alex<3<3: I was hoping you'd come? I know you've been away from home but I wanted to show off my gorgeous fiancée<3 plus I really miss our nights together ;))

I smile and bite my lip but stop to quickly check if the twins are awake before responding.

Me: oh I definitely miss that Alex ;)

Alex<3<3: LOL I was talking about cuddling but I do miss THAT ;D

I'll kill her

Alex<3<3: jk my love I was talking about THAT XD

Me: nope now I'm not going with you.

Alex<3<3: CATHY PLEASE I'LL DIE if I have to go to a social interaction without my extrovert!!

I pondered at what could make her go on those cute rants she had, my favorite ones were where she wrote paragraphs of how she felt about me, gosh she's so dramatically romantic. It makes me flutter just thinking about it

Me: do you love me?

Alex<3<3: what type of a question is that??!

Alex<3<3: OF COURSE I LOVE YOU CATHRINE AGNÉS BELMI!!

Alex<3<3: I would cross heaven and hell for you!

Alex<3<3: you are life and light to me

Alex<3<3 is typing

Me: you've proven your point babe, I'll go with you to the ball. You better pay me back with you know what.

Alex<3<3: yes my love, I already have lots of kisses prepared for you,

Me: And?

Alex<3<3: and I'll bake you lots of coffee cake!

Ms: I love you too Alex<3
