Even If I Have to Tear Myself Apart

William had put Michael's body in the basement. William had also found Dave's journal down there. It detailed all of his findings about remnant. Although, it didn't detail its weaknesses... of course. Though, he did find out that remnant is the power of emotions. The most powerful emotion being agony. William knew what he had to do. He took off his shirt. Then, he grabbed a knife and the contraption that Dave made. "I may not have been able to save those other children... and I may not have been able to save Jennifer, but I WILL save you! Even if I have to tear myself apart to do it!" William says, as he plunges the knife deep into his right shoulder. He immediately feels a surge of horrible pain, as he lets out a scream. He then sees the essence but knows that it's not enough. He then takes the knife out of his right shoulder and stabs it into his left shoulder. He lets out another scream. "Still..... n-not..... e-e-enough..." He says, as he takes the knife out of his left shoulder, and plunges it into his left knee, as he screams, yet again. "J-just... o-one... m-more...." He says, as he takes the knife out of his left knee, and plunges it into his right knee, and he screams again. Then, he takes the knife out, and throws it aside. Finally, he has enough. He uses the machine to absorb the remnant. "God, I hope this works..." William says weakly, as he shambles towards the chemistry station, wincing from the pain in his shoulders and knees. He then begins to work on a concoction.

"Finally..." William says, as he finishes making the concoction. It had an indescribable odor. He took the bandage off of Michael's forehead and poured the concoction on the huge gash. Nothing seemed to happen at first. However, a few moments later, Michael's body jolted upwards, flecking blood onto William's face. "What? This should have worked! It should have completely healed him! Did I... mess up the concoction?" William says. A few moments later, Michael opens his eyes slightly, as blood poured down his face. He looks at William. "Father..." He says. "Yes Michael?" William says, trying not to look at the huge gash that was still on Michael's forehead. "My head hurts so much..." Michael says, as he starts to cry. "Hey, hey. Please don't cry. I'll do my best fix it... I promise..." William says, as he hugs Michael.
