I calm down Yuma and we walk back in the house. My mom and dad are still at work so I make some food for me and Yumi. Afterwords we sit on the couch and watch t.v. until our parents get home.
The first one to get back is mom. She joins us on the couch and we start talking about or days.
"So basically, I'm very likely going to start this year since we don't have a main setter, also Noya will start as well." I tell her.
"That's good, I was worried you and Nishinoya would start a fight with some brats." Said my dad as he walks in the house.
I can feel sweat dripping down my back as I lie through my teeth,"How could you think that we would never get into any fights." I say while trying to look innocent.
"Oh you still dare lie to me." He threatens.
I sighed as I told about our encounter with Taigen and he nods his head,"You did good, they probably wouldn't have let Noya join the team if he fought and knowing you, you'd have been right beside him."
I thought about it and nodded because that most definitely would have been the case.
"But still it's gonna be rough with him on the team, if there's one think you don't do it's mention Noya's height, that boy holds a grudge to the grave." My dad says knowing full well that Noya doesn't like him because of a slip of the tongue when we were younger.
I laugh at him as I walk to my room, sitting in my computer chair and hopping on YouTube. I kept thinking back on what I could have done better in that match and one thing that stood out is that I have no serve game. I look up some basic jump serves and start watching while focusing on the form. I want my serve to be like Oikawa's, but I know that it would probably only show in high school considering how much work I'll have to put in. Until then I can do my best to master the basic form.
I watch the forms until I get tired and go to sleep. The next morning I wake up early and do some conditioning for an hour before coming back and getting a shower. I say bye to everyone and head to school.
The school day was boring as usual. Afterwords, me and Noya head to the gym. When we arrive the coach tells us to get changed, which we do, and then we start conditioning for thirty minutes. After that we practice serves, which I couldn't be more happy about. While I'm serving the coach takes the occasional glance over in my direction.
'So he's learning how to serve, it would definitely help to have another power server to keep on the court.' He thinks to himself.
After serving, we scrimmaged against each other until practice was over. The 1st years always have clean-up duty unless the coach punish a player, so we stayed after before Eichi leaves though, I run up to him.
"Yo Eichi, can you help me on my serve?" I asked.
"Sure, I guess I'll show my little kohai the ropes." He teased as he waited for us to finish cleanup.
He then explains how he serves and what to look out for before telling me," I'm glad you've decided to up your serve game, your tall and lanky which makes your joints more susceptible to flexibility. So my main tips are for you to do some flexibility workouts to relax your muscles and joints move better. Plus, your at a good age to shape them how you want. After practice tomorrow ask the coach about this and he will give you some routines and stretches." He explained as he packs up and leaves.
Like this we kept training and I followed my new night routine for a week. I could definitely see some improvements, my serves have more explosive power and are getting tough for some senpais to receive. My only problem is my accuracy is low when using it for now so I can only use it in practice.
Also at the end of the week, the coach made an announcement. Our first practice game against Kitagawa Daiichi. Hearing this made me so excited I did almost twice my normal training.
'I finally get to meet Oikawa and see how I stack up against one of the best setters in the anime.' I think to myself excitedly
