The small town of Kettle Falls is foreign to Luce walker, despite her parents being from there. She knows little of her birthplace and even less about the mysterious Parker Reynolds. She can’t help but feel drawn to him even if he keeps her at arms length. Things quickly change when a body is discovered and the cause of death, animal attack. Parker and Luce need each other more than they realize if they want to prevent anyone else from getting hurt.

Fighting Against Fate

The ebony oak table was the only thing separating the two men, Derek slammed his hand down, and the wood splintered at the impact. The council members shielded themselves from the shrapnel as it flew in every direction. Both men's bodies shook violently as they stared each other down. 


"Sit down." Mark said through gritted teeth, a low growl was building in his chest. "I am your alpha and you will obey." 


In a second, Derek crossed the room and grabbed Mark by his collar, the veins bulged in his arm as his grip tightened. "You are not my alpha anymore." 


Mark let out a sardonic laugh and easily brushed his beta off of him. "Then who is your alpha?" 


One council member interjected before Derek could respond, "Surely there is a solution to this." He pleaded with the two men. 


Derek shook his head, "He has no right to be an alpha, not with his weak choice of a mate." 


Mark growled angrily this time "You will not talk about my mate like that." 


"She's better off dead and same with that filthy mongrel that she's bringing into this world." Derek sneered. 


Mark bit his tongue, drawing blood in order to stop himself from ripping his throat out where he stood. 


"His child will be the next alpha. You must learn to respect the child now." One of the council members snapped. 


"I will not follow a half blood as my alpha, and it is within my rights to challenge you for you title." Derek looked around the room, and everyone's eyes went wide with shock.  


Marks laughter broke the deadly silence that had fallen around the room, "You cannot be serious?" He asked.


Derek looked him in the eyes, his words dripping with venom "I Derek Reynolds, challenge you for alpha."


The council members looked amongst themselves unsure what to do anymore, they looked to their alpha who just smiled at his beta. But his face was everything but endearing. "There is no other way to settle this it seems" He pondered for a moment, and to everyone's shock stated "I accept your challenge for alpha."


A sadistic smile crept onto Dereks face, "When I become alpha and if  I decide not to kill you first, Ill have you kill them both while I watch."


There were no more words exchanged, just blood.
