Cain and Abel

A quick slap snapped me out of my trance, and I stumbled backward on the bed, slamming my head against the wall. My cheek was red, and a sudden rage filled my eyes as I flicked toward the assaulter. The caped man had already taken away the orb and was crossing the loud floor again. I panted, trying to swallow the rage which would bring me nothing more than another slap.

"Boy," the deep voice echoed from the room on the other side, which I could only guess to be a bedroom. "What do you desire?" An unspeakable answer came forth in my head 'To beat your ass' But I quickly denied it as it would be suicide to say.

I thought long about it and ended up zoning out because I was too immersed in the question. When I finally found the right words, I noticed him standing against the door frame, observing me.

"I want to survive... No, I need to survive." My eyes shined with resolve, and I could see his lips form a smirk underneath the thick beard.

"Please help me get strong... please" I pleaded out, yet determined not to show any weakness in front of him. I straightened my back and held my head high. "Lay down boy, you don't know what you're talking about," I swear I felt my heart drop, and a tear was forcing its way out of my eye. I was sick and tired of losing everyone. It exhausted me always being the prey.

"Rest for now, boy." He ended the conversation and turned away, leaving me alone in the garlic smelling room. I wanted to protest and run after him, but my legs refused to obey my orders. Anger swelled up in me and I clenched my hands, completely ignoring the stings that bolted through my pain receptors. The scene back in my home village repeatedly flashed through me and made my focus fade out. I wanted to take out my sorrow on someone, I had to relieve my body and mind of the anger and despair I was going through.

The tears were on the edge of my eyes, and a single drop splashing on the ground was enough to bring me back to reality. I felt saliva slowly making its path down my chin and quickly wiped it away along with any of the upcoming tears. 'You gotta survive...' Amber's last words made all my thoughts clear out, and I promised myself one thing that I would never regret:

'I shall never spare a tear for this bitter world again, and if I fall, I will stand up. And if they kick me down again, then I shall fly.'

The thought brought forth a fighting spirit I never imagined before, as if I could take on the world and still be victorious.

"Now how do I train in this state..." I thought out in a mutter, racking my brain to the last drop of creativity until I finally found something.

Swords viciously clashing against each other, resulting in mad sparks flying across the battlefield between men and Godsent. The rain was pouring down in endless streams from the colorless sky, making it difficult to throw consistent attacks and keep balance.

Four fierce-looking plate-armored Godsent were surrounded by an army of bloodthirsty and greedy humans, ready to behead them without a second thought. But the brave and enduring battle maniacs never even thought of backing down. They hadn't come this far to give up.

Total silence had laid itself over the battlefield like a blanket, ready to be breached by a war cry of either side. Yet the humans had suffered many losses already, and none of the soldiers were prepared to face death in a reckless charge.

"Cain..." Abel said in a whisper as he was analyzing hundreds of possibilities in his head. "I think we might be able to pull something off... But we need to survive for at least 2 more minutes."

I doubted our odds of winning, but my trust in my brother was beyond hesitating in his plan. After all, if anyone could pull us through this situation, it would be him. No doubt.

"Okay, Soteria, you shield Abel, and cover Mora from anything they might throw at her! Abel, you do what you do and keep me updated!.. I will do what I'm best at... And go berserk." As the last sentence left my cracked lips, my eyes went wide, and I let out a war cry, infusing fear into any enemy daring to look my way. I felt my muscles expand, and mad, controlled power burst out of me.

Even the rain evaded my monstrous aura, or so I thought, but in reality, Mora, the ice queen, collected every drop of water in the area. She had cool blue eyes, but everyone knew she was the opposite of merciful when it came down to it. Within seconds, she had eight bulbs of water circling her, waiting for her command.

Soldiers took a step back as they feared the newfound confidence in the Godsent, and that was all it took for Cain to immediately dash forth, leaving two headless bodies sprouting blood like a fountain behind them. He rotated and twisted his body, evading deadly and poisoned blades with inches. From the outside, it would normally look chaotic, but at the moment, Cain had it all under control. After all, Ares, the god of war, forged him.

Mora, send her splashy balls flying, forming them as razor-sharp icicles in the air. Penetrating enemies through heart and brain. Her control over her element was outmatched by none other than her creator, Morana, the goddess of winter. While continuously launching and returning the icicles, she was also forming a layer of ice all around the party of now 3 Godsent, to slow down enemies.

The human warriors were not unskilled or without ability either, they may not have the slightest chance against a Godsent individually but combined, even they could call forth immense power.

Long-range abilities started getting hurled from behind the wall of soldiers and would have caused massive damage to the squad if not for Soteria, shielding the entire group from penetrating arrows, fireballs, and whatever the nasty humankind had forced the dwarves to create for them.

A large crimson puddle had formed beneath Cain's boots and was being violated by soldiers falling and struggling to keep their balance while fighting the monster. A sizeable gap had been made from where he initiated the slaughter, and he kept making bodies fall lifeless while evading the lethal attacks to his best capability, but a quick sword slash had made a nasty gash in his left shoulder, and he could clearly feel how the wound had been poisoned with something, as his blood thickened at the said area.

His bulky, massive arm was not easily corrupted though, and he could still use it to the majority of things he could before, that didn't mean it wasn't hurting though, but all the years fighting in life and death situations had forced him to ignore the warnings his body sent him. A decapitated head flew through the air and another soldier impaled by icicles.

Abel had closed his eyes while standing idle in the middle of Mora and Soteria. He was the project of Metis, the Goddess of wisdom, therefor he had a way of thinking like no one else. He was continuously updating Cain through telepathy. Cain and Abel were considered the two most powerful Godsent in the group, and Abel was naturally the most intelligent one, which had made him get appointed to group leader.

Although his task seemed easy and slacking, keeping track of every enemy moving in the area was tearing his mind apart. Right now, he was trying to figure out which of the humans had blocked his telepathy, as he couldn't reach further than the rough battleground.

But then it hit him. He picked up a unique scent and followed it through to the back line of the long-ranged attackers. He immediately sent words to the others and came up with a tactic for how they could break through the humans line of defense in quick succession without making their motive obvious.

Mora knew she had to cause a distraction as she could do the most damage over a larger area, and so she collected all her levitating bulbs and formed one enormous Ice boulder. With trembling hands, she hurled it at one collected group of humans. Screams of fear and pity echoed in the air as people got crushed beneath the deadly boulder.

Cain had dashed up in the air and was ready to strike down on another soldier, slowly massacring his way to the person who was blocking the signal. Soteria fully focused on protecting Cain's open back from reckless attacks. When swords were about to slash at him, she summoned a small protective barrier, blocking the edge from contacting his armor.

The plan was as bulletproof as something made up in moments could get, which also meant there was a single flaw because Soteria had left one of the Godsent exhausted and unprotected.
