Monday

Time flew as I gave my resignation notice to the convenience store and Q at the same time. Daisy was surprised because usually part timers just choose not to show up if they wanted to stop work. Nevertheless she appreciate that I took the time to give her a notice. HuangMin and Casey were not too sad since we will see each other often enough being in the same building. Casey even said she will text me to collect my dinner bento if there is any. It was super cool that I could get some home cook food from time to time. It will also avoid my mum to get worried that I am not eating well in the city. She always said some goldfish man would be able to kidnap me without hindrance with my easy personality.

Monday morning....I check my reflection in the mirror for one last time before heading out. Lucky beret hat check, hair tucked in for a clear honest working face, long beige sleeves with my slightly oversize jacket check, my beige pants and only pair of black working shoes check. My executive look check.

I slap both side of my face for courage as I stand in front of the Lee Group building. My very first full time job and at the biggest corporation in the country. I need to get this right. I walk in and up to the reception,"Good morning, I am reporting today as for the position of the personal assistant."

The two receptionist at the front desk look at me stunned before one of them replied,"Yes Ms. Yuki, you are expected on 32nd floor. Please follow me so I could activate the elevator for you to go up." All this while I can feel the scrutinised gaze both of them are giving me from head to toe. I've check my dates and it is definitely not my period yet so there should be any weird stains on my body plus I did all the "checks" this morning.

The receptionist cannot believe the CEO new personal assistant is such a young petite girl. Although she cannot deny that the girl was indeed pretty and very polite considering her position next to the CEO is one man on top and the rest of the company under her to command. Very curious indeed.

Yuki went up the elevator alone. Funny that it doesn't stop at any floor considering the fact that she is going up all the way to the 32nd floor. She figured that she will need some kind of employee tag to authorise the usage of the elevators. Maybe all the head department office is at the top. She is not really sure how such a big corporation works, this just show how much she has to learn and make sure she doesn't mess up.

She became nervous as the figure in the elevator show 28th floor. By the time the elevator door opens, she feel a bit nauseous. A man in glasses greeted her,"Ms. Yuki, my name is Hans. I am the head secretary of Mr. Xavier Lee. It is an honour to work with you in the future. Please follow me so you could sign your employment contract and your briefing before you start."

That name; Xavier Lee, sound extremely familiar. I followed Hans into a meeting room anyway. "Are you the one who call for my employment Mr. Hans? Your voice sound familiar." I tried to strike up a conversation with my new colleague to overcome my jumping nerves. It is like a bad premonition but it never happen to me before. I am a lucky star.

Hans respond was short,"Yes, please just call me Hans like everybody does. Do have a look at the document in front of you and sign on the last page as acceptance if all is in order."

No wonder everyone who has a full time job complained about how hard and complex office life could be. The employment contract is at least 30 pages thick. The maximum pages of assignment I get at Q was three and that was already hard to read through and keep in my head. How could I sit and read through this while Mr. Hans is waiting in front of me. I can do speed reading but not bullet train reading, I would need at least a day to read and another to digest the content.

Hans leaned forward to inquire and clarify,"Do you need help, Ms Yuki? It is a standard employment contract of Lee Group. I hope you understand that being an international conglomerate, we have to include non-disclosure terms as well as personnel term of employment during and after their engagement in the group. The most important for us employees, is the remuneration stated on page two."

"Right," I said. It is embarrassing to scrutinised big corporation standard employment terms indeed. What do I know? It is my first official job at a proper enterprise after all. I turned to page two and saw ten thousand dollars. I blink and look and count the zeros. It is really five digits. I can finally send money home to my parents. They could finally retire and rest well without having to worried about me. Within 5 minutes I flipped to the last page and signed my name.

Hans seems to looked relief when I didn't take all day to read the entire contract. He show me into another spacious room. It looks like a big office for someone with very high position in the company with it's a small reception area, big mahogany work desk and bookcase wall that screamed masculinity with elegant decorations. There is a glass panel on the table that read "CEO Mr. Xavier Lee".
