CHAPTER 1

The security force of Sokoto Sultanate urged their horses into a slow trot along the Sokoto border, the officers kept a close watch on the passengers approaching to hinder the enemy from infiltrating the state. The chaos around Northern Nigeria is at its peak, the two major tribes in the north which are Hausa and Fulani shed each other's blood to quench their thirst of hate, inflicting injuries on one another to the delight of their eyes. Subsequently, the sultan tightened border security to keep the people safe from harm.

A pickup truck advanced slowly towards the border, it had the logo of Kano Emirate on it. The mere sight of that filled the officers with immense rage, they drew their guns out and got ready to shoot.

" Put down your weapon! " The senior officer instructed.

" But sir, our foes are coming nearer "

" I’m under strict instructions to not harm our adversaries but to prevent them from coming into the state "

An ancient grudge gave rise to a new revolt, the enmity between the Hausa and Fulani is long established. Wherever they cross path, they cross swords, children against children, women against women, men against men.

Nigeria is an absolute monarchy in which the monarch holds supreme autocratic authority, principally not being restricted by written laws, legislature and customs. For ease of resource sharing and regional administration, Nigeria was divided into three geopolitical zones, which are, Southern Nigeria, Eastern Nigeria, and Northern Nigeria. Southern Nigeria is dominated by the Yoruba people, governed by the Ooni. Eastern Nigeria is inhabited by these tribes; Igbo, Ijaw, Ibibio, governed by the Obi. Northern Nigeria is inhabited by the following tribes; Hausa, Fulani, Kanuri, Gwari, Nupe, Igbira, governed by the Sultan. However, the Hausa region is governed by the Emir but his power is limited because the sultan has the supreme authority in Northern Nigeria.

The first ruler of Northern Nigeria was a Fulani man and he made Sokoto the capital territory. Therefore, a seed of hatred was planted in the hearts of the Hausas, they refused to be ruled by the descendants of the Fulanis and wanted the sovereignty alternated between them.

Northern Nigeria is still ruled by the Fulanis up till now. Hence, the seed of hatred germinated to harvest a bloodshed. Blood is sacred not to be wantonly shed, but an envious heart would bleed others to death.

Their access to the border was blocked by a line of fifteen security officers, they passed a message on to those from Kano Emirate that they are unwelcome in their territory.

The passengers descended from the pickup truck and said, " We request to move across the border, it's imperative "

" Request not granted. Hausas are restricted from coming into our state until the conflict is resolved, " The officer declined, " Where your ears in your pocket when the sultan made the announcement? "

" Yes, of course, they were in your forefather's pocket. It is he who has never tasted a savory sauce that will get his cloth stained with oil. In ancient times, our ancestors were the elites of the north and the Fulanis were cattle rearers. I blame those who considered your tribe worthy of power, they are responsible for this stupidity "

" One does not get out of the way for a person who rode a horse yesterday, " The officer said, " Be thankful that I was cautioned not to lay a finger on you retarderd folks or else you would breathe your last "
