Pauline's Point of View

I was very focused on my laptop because I was looking for the people Xari mentioned to us yesterday but I did not find anything.

"This is so tiring, I give up!" I shouted and closed my laptop, I took my cellphone to text the witch that I did not see any of her enemies.

Cutie Pauline: It seems that your enemies are hiding, coz you look like a ghost.

I even laughed at my message and stopped when she replied.

Xariya the Witch: Not now, Pau, Dad is in the hospital.

Oh my gosh! What a bad timing to joke around! I read her reply and I immediately typed a message.

Cutie Pauline: Which hospital? I will go there now.

And when she told me where hospital they were in, I immediately got up to go to my boss's office to excuse myself that I will leave early now because there is an emergency.

I felt relieved when he agreed so now I am in the cab now and heading to that hospital that Xari told me.

Xari's dad is now in a private room and the doctor said earlier that he is okay but he will stay here for a few days because they will maintain and check his blood for the time being.

"Xariya, these are your dad's medicine." Xari's mom said when she entered the room again.

"Alright, I'll buy it. Take care of Dad." Xari said and her mother nodded.

Later, Xari's and I went to the hospital cafeteria to eat there, I agreed because she needed sympathy now.

"I know we just won't eat here, Xari." Nate said as soon as we sat down after ordering, Xari nodded at him and I frowned.

What are they talking about now?

"Dad said something earlier before he lost consciousness." She started so Nate and I listened.

"Dad said he saw someone in the back of our house while he was looking at my room so he immediately went to my room to see if he was right in his suspicion that the person was looking and he was surprised by what he saw."

"And what is that?" I asked even though I was nervous.

"That man was also looking at him while holding a gun." Her voice is almost a whisper but we still heard it.

I could not speak when Xari said that. I feel mixed emotions, scared, nervous and amazed. Huh? Why am I amazed? I am not amazed! I am shocked.

"Is that why you told dad that if possible a police will guard our house?" Nate asked her and Xari immediately nodded.

"I don't know what to do anymore, my family is already in trouble and I don't know why." She said crying so I immediately hugged her. I feel scared even if I'm not involved. I'm scared for her.

"Don't worry Xari, I will take care of our family." Nate said, and this time, I am really amzaed because it's the first time I heard him being so serious.

"I know that but I'm sure you will be affected too, I mean, they threatened my dad who is unaware of what is happening." Xari again and she is cried more. Some people are looking at her now but we ignored them.

"I don't care, I'll still protect our family. I'm not a coward."

We were silent for a few minutes and could not eat well because Xari is still crying but quietly now so I keep on comforting her.

I feel so sorry for her situation, in fact she is not doing anything wrong so I really do not understand and I can never understand why she is being threatened like this.

Soon after, Xari settled down and I decided to go home as well, Nate even took me home because that's what Xari wants. I didn't complain anymore because it's almost evening. I also feel that it is no longer safe when you are alone.

Nate's Point of View

I had just returned to the hospital and my body felt very tired, while on my way my uncle's room, I got in the elevator with Dr. Matteo, I just met him earlier. He said he wanted to handle Xari's dad himself but another doctor immediately stopped him because he already had so many patients.

"How is your uncle?" He asked so I looked at him.

"He's fine, Doc, he woke up earlier and said he would just go to sleep again." I answered and I saw him nod.

The elevator also opened signaling that I was here on the floor where uncle's room was.

"All right Doc, I'll go now." I said but he ignored me.

What a snob. But the hell I care? We are not that close.

When I entered uncle’s room, I found everyone sleeping there except Xari, as expected.

"How is Pau? Is she home safe?" She asked immediately. I chuckled lightly, my cousin is paranoid.

"Yes, just calm down, Xari.." I answered and turned the TV on.

"I'm sorry, I'm just worried." She said while also watching what I was watching.

"I told you, I will take care of it, don't worry, I'll go to the precinct tomorrow and then I will look for the best police to guard our house. I'll also find another police to guard Pau's house so that you will not be paranoid." And I heard her laugh, that was probably the first time she laughed today.

"You're crazy." She said and even hit me.

"But who do you think the guy that showed up to dad?" She asked me so I turned off the television.

"I don't know, I'm not a genius." I answered and scratched my head.

"But who do you think was it?" She's still asking me.

"I said I don't know, Xari. Why do you keep asking? Do you already know who was it?" I asked her too.

"Of course not!" She answered.

"Maybe the one who gave you roses?"

"Maybe? Or it could be someone we know." She yawned.

"Let's not just blame someone, we can also catch the one behind this." I said and she smiled at me before deciding to sleep.

Dainty's Point of View

It's been weeks since the incident happened and I still can't believe it but I'm moving forward now. It's really hard because RD is my only family but I have to move on.

I also told Ken Montero that I'll start training next week. I also took a break from work because I want to be alone the whole week. Ma'am Gigi and Sir Adrian seem to understand my situation so they let me.

I am now eating my dinner in at the hotel's restaurant where Ken Montero wanted me to stay in. He's being kind to me now, he even paid for my stay here and I'm thankful for that.

While eating, I can't help but notice how peaceful this place is at this hour. Satisfying music are played too that's makes this place more beautiful as it is now. It would be perfect if RD was here.

"Excuse me, Sir. That table is reserved for some guests..." I heard some waiter from behind me talking to someone.

"Is that it?" That voice is familiar to me!

"Yes, sir, sorry. I'll just find a table for you!" I heard the waiter again.

"No need, I'll find a table myself. Thank you." Oh my gosh, his voice is really familiar!

Because I really want to know who was it, I tilted my head and my jaw dropped when I saw the handsome Dr. Matteo! He's just wearing casual clothes right now but he's still so handsome.

I blushed and look away when he saw me looking at him. Gosh, Dainty!

"Good evening, are you alone?" He's suddenly in front of me that I couldn't speak so I just nod at him.

"Can I join you, then?" I nodded again and he smiled.

I started eating again and wondered why he is here. Come on, Dainty, you're not the only one who's allowed to stay in a hotel.

"How are you?" He asked again and this time, I spoke.

"I'm fine, Doc. Thank you for asking." I answered and shyly smiled.

"You're staying here for the mean time?" He asked.

"Yes, how about you? Are you visiting someone?" What the hell did you just ask him, Dainty?

Dr. Matteo laughed and I forced myself to smile again. This is so embarrassing!

"I don't have a girlfriend." He said like it is a matter of fact. "I just visited someone I knew." He added.

"Oh, okay. I really thought that it was your girlfriend, I mean, it's not impossible for you to have one." Dainty, will you shut up for a while?

Dr. Matteo laughed again and drink his iced tea before speaking. "I'm a busy person, Dainty, I don't have time to entertain girls."

I do not have much to say and he's busy eating so we remained silent after that.

When he finished eating, he glanced at his wrist watch before looking at me again.

"I should get going now, I still have work tomorrow." He said and I felt a sudden disappointment.

"Okay! Take care." I said and smiled at him to hide the embarrassment that I'm feeling right now.

"I will." Then he left but I was shock when he went back to me again.

Biting his lower lip, he looks like he's hesitant to say something.

I saw him sighed before uttering some words that made my heart flutter and erased the embarrassment I felt a while ago.

"Can I have your number, Dainty?"
