Ferocious

"I'm going to kill you." Each of my words drip with venom.

My hackles rise as I watch the king's guards rear for battle.

"Selene stand down." Dante ordered.

I don't listen. My fur is in a frenzy.

Humiliation and potent anger flood our bond.

"What is wrong with you." He said very quietly with a threatening undertone.

"Go to hell." I spat in his face.

A loud bang interrupted us from out of nowhere and the twins rushed to my side.

A soldier sprinted towards us.

"The Castle is surrounded your majesty." He said hastily and out of breath.

"Who?"

"Vampires. Feral Vampires."

I was very confused.

What would feral vampires want with the North.

Vampires and wolves have a longstanding peace agreement.

But feral vampires are rogue ones without any sense of reasoning. Their only thought is chaos and death.

They simply kill everything in sight

"How many?" Dante asked.

"I'd estimate about two hundred all together si-"

"Guard the queen." Dante commanded before he could finish.

"We can take care of the vampires easily your highness. No harm would come to her." A guard responded in an effort of reassurance.

Dante narrowed his eyes at him.

The atmosphere had turned menacing.

He was exuding an animalistic aura.

I was even more confused now.

Even if its unusual for vampires to be here, it's even more unusual for werewolves to be threatened by them.

Ferals are considerably weak vampires.

Even juvenile wolves take them on easily.

Dante looked furious but his actions were a bit panicky.

It like he isn't surprised.

I felt uneasy.

Something was going on here.

"Dante-"

"Take her away! I want a dozen guards with her. The queens life is of the utmost importance."

"Dante answer me!" I demanded, frustrated with the muddled situation.

He ignored me still barking orders at his men.

I growled at him. My anger hadn't rescinded.

He narrowed his eyes at me.

"Go selene, we can settle this when you're safe."

He nodded to Xavier and I was lifted off the ground.

"Xavier let me down now or so help me God-"

"Your highness, I ask for your cooperation in this matter. The vampires are clearly after you and the King is only doing this in your best interest." Axel pleaded, eyes already glowing mid-shift.

Axel was right...Dante wouldn't take these drastic precautions if he didn't know what was happening.

There was nothing I could do but wait.

I remain silent, the uneasy feeling growing stronger.

Somethings wrong.

My intuition had never failed me before.

Blood splattered suddenly as one of the guards throat was slashed.

Xavier screeched to a halt and I wrestle out of his arms while he was distracted.

Guards line up infront of us.

It was a three part hallway and ferals were pouring out of two sides, we had only one obvious option.

"Lets go your majesty." Axel yelled.

I ran in the safe direction with the twins and a few guards, the rest stayed back to fight and prevent them from following us.

I should've stayed to fight.

Feral vampires are easy to take care of. They have no mind of their own so they can be easily killed or put down.

If caught by surprise though, a feral can inflict a mortal wound, but a slash from a werewolf would send their blood into a frenzy that would kill them instantly.

Even though it went both ways, a small army of feral vampires wouldn't put a dent on the Northern forces.

Something else was happening.

Was this a diversion?

We arrive at the safe room and take the hidden tunnel to the bunker.

"Stop." I order before Axel could unlock the doors.

We need to get out of here.

Evil lurked behind those doors.

I felt power surge from within me. All my senses were heightened.

I had the power to fight. My eyes glowed and somehow I knew the ferals surrounding the castle were dead. They were all dead.

I felt a punch of intense, pulsing anger.

Not mine.

My mate was coming.

"The king is coming. The ferals have been taken care off." I inform them

They looked confused, all except one who scoffed in disbelief.

I wasn't fast enough, he unlocked the doors and pushed them open.

He died immediately.

His head was slashed clean off.

A room full of ferals snarled at us.

Run.

That was the first thought that came to my head.

I needed to run.

Then why wasn't I moving.

Axel grabbed me as he sprinted up the stairs and away from the bunker.

I stare at the guards left behind.

Just a few against an estimated Twenty or so ferals.

I feel the resolve and silence of their souls.

They've made their peace ith the world.

They're giving their lives up for me...

I cannot waste their efforts.

Once we got back into the safe room, ferals blocked the exit and attacked.

Xavier slashed as many as he could, and followed as Axel jumped out of the only window without a second thought.

As soon as we hit the ground, my mind was engulfed in mind numbing fear.

The twins ran without a change in their determined expression.

Couldn't they feel that?

I push off Axel's grip as he moved.

The force propelled me to the ground but I didn't waste any time.

"Your grace." Xavier yelled as they rushed to my side.

"We need to go back into the castle." I warned frantically.

"It's flooded with ferals. We need to leave now your majesty."

No no no no...

I needed to be with my mate.

I needed Dante.

He must've heard me through the bond, because at that moment a deadly growl shook the grounds.

I saw death, blood curling carnage through the bond.

He is killing everything in his path to get to me.

"Your grace look out!"

Axel jumped infront of me as the arrow pierced his skin.

"Brother!"

"Axel!"

"Get her out of here!" Axel yelled just before he lost consciousness.

A high dose of Satium

Who shot that?

Xavier pulled me up, ready to sprint with me.

It was too late.

We were surrounded.

Ferals were approaching from every direction.

Xavier shifted immediately and used his muzzle to throw me onto his back.

He growled, deep in his throat.

I jump off back to help, but all my instincts wanted me to run.

I couldn't leave him behind.

My mind and nature were conflicted.

He makes the decision for me as he nudges me not so slightly out of the way.

I saw his eyes and ran as fast as I could.

From the corner of my eye I see the ferals attack him all at once.

He blocks their way slashing and biting, giving me time to escape.

I whisper a silent thank you as I shift into wolf form.

I take another route and run as fast I can back to the palace.

I had to get to Dante.

Out of nowhere I was pushed off course with so much force my back collides with a tree.

The pain radiates to my entire being.

I ignore it and get into a fighting stance.

For some reason I knew I had to find an opening and escape.

I snarled at the figure in the shadows.

"If only you had left, you would've saved yourself a lot of trouble and a lot of lives."

Heather.

Anger outweighs the pain and pours out of every crevice.

I growled at her.

I wanted to taste her blood.

But the need to escape still remained.

Pain, sharp and intense destabilized me.

I was shot with an arrow.

I slink back to skin form, my fur unable to withstand the effects of the substance.

This wasn't satium.

I fight to remain conscious.

A leg kicks hard across my middle region.

Pain. Everywhere.

Another kick shatters my jaw.

It hurts so bad.

The kind of pain that pushes you close to death.

"Why are you...doing this?" I choke out, blood spilling from my mouth in gulps.

She looked surprised by the question and then crazily amused as her fangs extend.

Realization dawned.

Vampire.

"Ha! You really don't know do you?!"

"Marvelous! Simply splendid!..this would make this all the more fu-"

Her speech was cut short.

A pitch black wolf materialized from the shadows.

Those eyes.

Thank the Goddess.

Dante.
