Lincoln

The bell had rung, but I had mind-linked to the others that I still had to clear some things up with Harrison; they should go on ahead. When they left, I turned to Harrison with all seriousness showing on my face. To think that I’d be faced with a challenge such as infiltration before my official coronation. It amazes me, honestly.

“Do you remember who you spoke to? When you accepted the girl from Cresent?” I asked, my alpha tone evident.

“Yes, of course. I believe I spoke with her mother.” Harrison states immediately.

“You believe?” I repeated.

“Yes, Alpha. I believe. The person I spoke to was most definitely a woman, but she looked nothing like the girl that transferred in, so I said ‘I believe’.” Harrison explained further. I nodded in understanding and sent an immediate mind-link to all members of the pack over 17: ‘Be on high alert. An older female witch. Mid-late 30s, maybe even early 40s. Looks don’t correspond with the teenage human in the territory.’

“Do you suspect the girl of bringing the witch here intentionally?” Harrison questions after hearing the warning.

“Yes, Harrison, I do.” I say simply.

“Excuse my rudeness Alpha, but I don’t think she would intentionally bring harm to Lunar.” He claims solemnly.

I nod not wanting to continue this conversation anymore and begin to walk to my class. Though, I am confused as to why he believes that she won’t bring harm to this pack. Was he vexed into believing this as well, or is it just him and his thoughts of righteousness? I couldn’t tell, my mind is being clouded by this honey-lemon scent I’ve been indulging in all day, but all of a sudden now, it’s close and abundant. For the first time in months, I heard a familiar voice, a voice I thought was lost.

‘Don’t move.’

“Marc?” I said out-loud.

‘Let me enjoy this smell before I enjoy its source.’ he commands gently.

All of a sudden, my body is filled with an intense wave of anxiety, so strong that I can’t move. Just At that moment, Alex mind-links me,

‘Lincoln…’

‘What?’

‘Julie acted up again…’

Just great! Marc finally starts talking to me, I have to cut our reunion short to fix another problem that Julie has created. As I’m about to take off to class, the honey-lemon scent hits me hard, making me dizzy.

‘I said don’t move, asshat.’ Marc growls.

‘Yeah, yeah. Sorry.’ I groan out.

When the dizziness fades, I feel something bump into me. I look down to see the most beautiful pair of dark blue eyes that I had ever seen. I was stunned by how beautiful she was, long black hair that flowed down her back, pale skin that had just the perfect amount of a blush, lips so full, pink, and kissable. Goddess, have mercy on me!

“Mate…” I whisper in surprise. It was her, the one I’ve been looking for! My mate is standing right here in front of me,with her honey-lemon scent enveloping me, but I notice that with her scent, the scent of blood is mixed in. That when I see that her forehead is bleeding.

‘Who dares to hurt my mate?’ Marc roared.

‘I don’t know, but I’ll figure it out.’ I growled.

I’m brought back to reality when instead of my beautiful mate being in front of me, Cameron is now in my line of vision, along with Alex, Jazz, and Lily. I quickly turn left and right, trying to figure out which way my mate went.

“Lincoln, you alright?” Lily asks, concerned.

“Yeah, fine. What is going on?” I ask trying to hide my anxiety build up.

“Julie attacked the girl from before.” Alex informs.

“You will explain further after this, understood?” I say in my alpha voice.

They nod with no expressions and I immediately turned around and sprinted to the main entrance, they quickly followed but I could tell that they had no idea why I was acting this way.

When we get outside the main entrance doors, Jazz calls out to my mate, “Hey, Azura! Hold on a minute!”

‘Azura. I love it.’ Marc purrs out.

‘Me too, bud. Me too.’

Azura turns to look at us and looks like a deer in headlights, so much fear. Why is she scared? Is it because of me?

All of our eyes spike up when we hear screeching tires, then an olive green Jeep Wrangler comes to a halt right in front of us. The car door opens and out comes a very pissed off man, I didn’t care who he was until I saw Azura looking at him like he was her savior. He gets closer while he glares at all of us and, when he gets to Azura, pulls her into his chest and sends another death glare. Then he gently cups her cheeks to examine her as he asks if she's okay, the cold glare seems like it never existed. He quickly calmed down when she assured him that she was okay, he handed her a napkin and she accepted it with a small smile.

‘Mate? Mate has another?’ Marc whimpers.

‘No! She can’t! What if he is her father?’ I snap at him.

‘He looks too young to have a teenage daughter, doofus.’

I don’t want to believe that she has a partner but he looked nothing like Azura. He had blonde hair and green eyes while Azura had black hair and blue eyes, there was a high possibility that he was her partner, I just hope that’s not the case. This man gave off a threatening aura, and there was a lingering stench of blood stuck to him.

He’s dangerous.

“Azura, go wait in the car.” The mysterious blonde grumbled with a low voice, she nodded and began to walk towards the car. Just as she was about to open the car door, Marc took over, “Come back tomorrow!,” he shouted, “Please!” He wasn’t shouting because he was angry, he was shouting because he was desperate. I was trying to get control back but Marc refused to let it go, I could hear him in my head, the word ‘please’ was on repeat. She was looking at me like I just shifted in front of her, anyone who heard what just came out of my mouth would be confused. When Marc had seen that she agreed to come back with a nod, he released his control over my body and I watched her get into the car.

I turn to look at Mr. Blondie and give him the same glare that he’s giving me. He seemed a little shocked but continued to glare.

“Who are you?” I ask deepening my voice to sound more threatening.

“Max. How ‘bout you kid?” The intimidating voice seemed to come naturally.

“The name’s Lincoln.” He scoffed and I glared a little more.

“Well then, Lincoln, you and your friends need to stay away from my sister, and while you're at it, keep your wolves away as well.”

I stared at him wide-eyed, “S-sister?” I stutter out.

He furrowed his eyebrows, “Got a problem?” he asks, clearly just waiting for an opportunity to attack me.

I smirked a bit and replied, “Not at all.”

‘Mate doesn’t have another?’ Marc asks hopefully.

‘Nope, I told you so.’

“Wait. You know about us? Are you a hunter?” Alex asked, getting into a position ready for an attack, we all look at Alex and follow suit. I look back at him and he is looking at us like we suddenly started speaking a different language.

“Are you normally this dumb, or is today a special occasion?” he insults.

We all growled at him.

‘When can I rip out his throat?’ Jazz mind-links.

‘We can’t.’ Lily grunts out.

‘And why the hell not?’ Jazz yells.

‘Because Azura is less than 10 feet away from us.’ Cameron starts.

‘And we can’t reveal that we are werewolves to a human.’ Alex finishes.

Jazz grunts and lowers her guards, Max notices our change and cocks his head to the side. But just as he had been doing during the entire conversation, he pisses me off again.

“So you finally used your brains.” he says cockily with a smirk.

I let out an aggravate sigh while dragging my hand down my face, and glance up at Max. Lily, Cam, and Alex are right, we can’t attack him because we’re in front of Azura, but I still agree with Jazz in wanting to rip his throat out.

“So, you’re not a hunter?” I sighed. If I was going to get any information I was going to have to talk to him and not kill him.

“It’d be ironic if I was, but no, I’m not.” Max chuckled. I hated how he’s laughing during this time but Marc is nagging me from the back of my mind to make sure Azura stops bleeding.

“You’re like us, aren’t you?” Lily blurts out. I glance over at him to see him smile. Lily’s

guess was correct.

“You’re wrong,” we look at him in shock. “I’m the same race as you, but I am like you.” he finishes with the same smirk as before, his eyes now glowing hazel.

‘Don’t do anything stupid, Lincoln.’ Lily interrupts.

‘It’s not stupid. I’m doing my duty as the alpha in protecting this pack, as well as my mate!’

‘But, he is dangerous.’

‘I’m an alpha, I’m more than strong enough to take him on if I really needed to.’

‘Have you ever heard of wolves, regardless of their rank, being able to over power an alpha?’

‘Yes, I have, but this guy can’t be one of them. Can he?’

‘It’d explain his blatant rudeness despite being able to smell the alpha on you.’

The conversation between Lily and I ends when Max sighs, “Well, this has been fun, but I’m going to get going now.”

Jazz was about to dash towards him but I put my arm out to stop her. I glance at her and she is already looking at me with fury, I shake my head to make her stand down.

Max turns around and walks a back towards us, “Oh, right. Lincoln!”, I look up from Jazz to face him, “If you see Azura tomorrow, two things, 1: don’t tell her about our race, or any other race, and 2: as the alpha you stay the hell away from her, and keep your “subjects” away from her as well.” I knew from his sarcastic smile, that he was not asking me to do any of these things, he was ordering me to, which didn’t sit well with me, or Marc.

Before I revealed my secret to the others, I took a very deep breathe in and exhale roughly. “I can promise that she will not learn of any race from us, but I will not promise to stay away from her.” I say in my alpha voice.

He groaned very loudly which surprised me, “Fine! Just keep your distance a bit, alright?” he shouts as he gets closer to his car. I smiled and let out a breath that I didn’t even know I was holding while Marc howled for our mini victory.

Not long after Max left, Cam smacked his hand on my shoulder, “So, what was that about?” his expression tells me he already has an idea. Seems like the others have ideas of their own as well.

“Why did you fight so hard for the human girl?” Alex asked with a smirk.

“Call her by her name, not ‘human girl’.” I growled out. Alex immediately put both his hands up in surrender and yelped out a ‘yes, alpha’.

“But on a serious note, why did you fight for Azura?” Jazz asks while tilting her head.

I sigh, “It’s simple really, what other reason does a wolf have to protect someone else?” I ask them.

They look confused and begin to think it over, then after a few minutes Lily connects the dots.

“Oh, my, goddess! She’s your mate?” She whispers. The others are shocked and quickly whip their heads around to get an answer.

I couldn’t help but let my smile go from ear to ear. Lily and Jazz squeal and rush in to give me a huge hug, which I was grateful for. They don’t mind that she is a human, and that she will be the future luna of this pack. Alex and Cam were also very supportive, they found a way to give me congratulatory shoulder pats, through the nonsense of Lily and Jazz’s excitement.

“By the way, why the hell was Azura bleeding?” I ask my voice as threatening as a knife to one's throat. Lily and Jazz went frigid, almost all the color drained from their faces.

Cam spoke first, “Alpha, Julie had pretended to be nice and went to go introduce herself to our Luna with a big smile, but just as the luna was about to grab something from her bag, Julie grabs her and smashes her head against the desk.” His head hung low in shame.

‘How dare she do something like that to my mate! Rip her neck out!’ Marc roared.

‘I can’t do that.’ I sighed

‘And why the hell not?’ Marc shouted.

‘Her father holds too high of a position in the pack for me to punish her for something us werewolves deem “petty”.’ I explain to him.

He grunted away and mumbled many curse words along the way, before blocking himself off. I look back at my crew and sigh, they look about ready to receive a punishment.

“We’re sorry alpha. If we had known she was our Luna, we would ‘ve done a better job in protecting her.” Alex apologizes, the others follow with a series of ‘sorry alpha’ from each of them.

“I was going to make you all train for 3 extra hours for a week, but since you called Azura you luna, so I’ll make it only an extra hour.” I announced. They sigh in relief.

“As for Max’s request,” Lily starts, “We won’t tell her anything. Not yet at least.” I finished. They nod their heads in agreement, and we turn back to the school to head back to class.

‘I miss my mate.’ Marc whimpers.

‘I know buddy, but we’ll see her tomorrow.’ I reassured him.

“Hey Lincoln?,” I look up at Lily, “You keep spacing out, are you alright?” she asks. I smile to myself, this is why I love Lily, she’s such a sweetheart, and is always so caring.

“Yes, I’m fine. I’m just calming Marc down a bit.” I chuckled.

After a few seconds of no reaction I stop walking and I turn and see that they are all frozen in place with their jaws to the ground, I laugh, “If you don’t close your mouth you’ll eat flies.”
