Twenty-three

It wasn't long after that when the bus pulled up. Six led them inside.

"You know where we're going, Facility Boy?" Madelaine asked. Six nodded.

"Sure thing, Short Girl," he replied, his voice filled with sarcasm. She rolled her eyes.

They sat together in the back, Leigh's left leg pressed against Ash's right. It felt nice, comfortable - pleasant. Ash smiled at her, turning a little pink.

"What happened to you guys?" Leigh asked.

"Well, obviously we got separated. When we fought that guy, Thirteen. After that we we're out in the forest for a bit, just surviving. We - " she stopped for a minute, unsure if she should continue " - we fought these people, like the guards from before. We had to run from them. Then we felt this odd pull, almost like we couldn't go anywhere else. We thought it was the guards pulling us towards them. We literally couldn't stop walking," Ash whispered.

Leigh felt guilt. She had never considered that her friends might be scared...
