Chapter 40: Only way

Cadmus and I were on the same ride; we were silent the whole time since the carriage moved, and he was sitting in front of me while looking outside the window.

I looked at him: darkness formed in his eyes as he was watching the streets of Camriel. Or is it because of the dim lights from the highway?

My gaze left when he turned to me, and I’ve seen in my peripheral vision he was raising his brows at me.

“Lady Jasmine...”

I looked at him and smiled. “Yes, Your Royal Highness?”

Is it because of the light outside, or do his eyes change into lighter brown?

Is he mad? Did I do something he doesn’t like, or did I address him wrong?

“No... you didn’t do something wrong.”

“H-Huh?” I frown.

Cadmus shook his head. “The expression you make,” he massaged the bridge of his nose and took a deep breath, “Jasmine... my Lady, can we skip the formalities? I want you to call me by my name.”

My eyes widened, “B-But---“

“Please?” He pleads.
