"Your eyes are glowing"

"ho-how did you do that?" Hailie managed to talk after a good 10 minutes.

Bryan smiled." I think you already know that"

" no. I don’t. I have no idea what just happened and how did you-"

" Hailie? Is that really you ?"

Hailie turned to see Josh standing there and looking at her with excitement. She gave him a really fake smile:" Oh hey josh. I didn’t know you were here."

Josh chuckled :((well I race here almost every week. But how come you’re here? It's not expected from the sheriff’s daughter to be in an illegal car race.)). obviously, he didn't get the message of her fake smile.

"well, he doesn’t know I'm here. I'm not 7 you know," she answered with no emotions. she was getting pissed by every second.

Josh nodded and turned to Bryan: "Bryan! How you doin’ man? We missed you here. When will you come back to race?"

Hailie watched the two talking about races. "regretting saying no to him?" Sadie asked with a hushed voice and a mischievous smile. Hailie frowned: "no? why would I regret my decision?"

"well, he looks quite handsome you know. way better than I remember" Sadie eyed Bryan and continued:" well not as handsome as him though." Hailie hit the back of her head: "don’t you have a boyfriend? Stop praising other boys. and I didn't reject him because of his looks, I don't want a boyfriend,"

" I'm not praising them. I won't change Walter with any of them. I’m just trying to open your eyes. You’ve been single for 17 years already." she pouted and continued:" why do you have to hit me so hard?"

Hailie rolled her eyes with a laugh and kissed her forehead:" will you ever grow up? Plus, I'm fine on my own. Thank you."

Sadie rolled her eyes while she murmured" robot, I'm friends with a robot.". she turned around in Walter’s lap so she could face Bryan. "I didn’t know you drive"

"I used to drive a lot. But I got in a very bad accident and thought it was time to stop it for a while."

Sadie nodded while Hailie tried to get Bryan’s attention back to their topic and whispered:" Was the accident the reason for, you know, the thing you did with the popcorn ?"

Bryan simply looked at her:" No."

Hailie frowned:" what happened to you? why are you so cold to me all of a sudden?"

Bryan got up from his seat:" nothing. The race is over, you better leave now." he said the last part to the couple. Sadie pouted: "why can't we stay a bit more, this place is so cool. I don't get to see cool places often."

Bryan smiled and ruffled her hair.: "I’m sorry blondie. sometimes the police come here to check stuff, and I don’t think it’s a good thing for your friend to be seen here now, is it ?" he turned and arched a brow to Hailie, then returned to Walter:" I’ll get you out and then I’m off, is that cool with you?"

Walter nodded as he shook Bryan’s hand:" yeah man, that’s fine, thank you for inviting us, this was so fun."

Bryan simply nodded and led the way out.

When they were on their way out, Hailie couldn’t stop thinking about what happened earlier. What happened to Bryan? Why wasn’t he flirting with her anymore? Not that she cared, she was simply curious. and she wanted to know about his thing. he was acting so mysterious. She looked at Bryan and decided to play it cool:" Hey um, where are you going to take me tonight?"

Bryan didn’t even bother to look at her: "nowhere. You are going home with Walter and Sadie."

Now Hailie was really pissed. She pulled Bryan’s sleeve to stop him from walking."What the fuck is wrong with you?"

"nothing. You shouldn’t have been here in the first place. Daddy sheriff will be sad."

"oh, so it's about my dad? Do you think I'm some kind of rat? Gathering information for him?" at this point Hailie was shouting, grabbing people’s attention. Sadie and Walter looked at them with fear and worry. Sadie started walking toward them." Hailie come on let's go-"

"you two go. I’ll take little strawberry home." Bryan said.

"Are you sure bro? I really don't mind taking her home, we always do that." Walter said with a concerned voice.

" yeah I'm sure, I just want to get to know her, you know, strawberry is really interesting," Bryan said with a really convenient smile. And to Hailie’s surprise, they left with relief written all around their faces.

Bryan took her hand and pulled her to an empty garage. Hailie noticed this was the garage in which she saw him and his gang.

"what the hell is wrong with you?" Bryan shouted. He looked furious.

" oh, now you decide to shut up and get back to staring? Didn’t you want to shout? Go on. SHOUT!"

Hailie couldn’t stop shaking. Bryan was mad. Why? She had no idea. She tried to gather herself together and looked into his eyes. They were raging. She sighed. she really hated this. then started talking in a very calm voice: "It's okay, I know you’re mad at me. Why don’t you tell me the reason then we can talk about it?"

He didn’t answer. She tried one more time:" come on Bryan. won't you tell me what's wrong? I know you want to-"

"your eyes are glowing."

Hailie frowned. Why didn’t it work?

" what do you mean they’re glowing. Don’t be silly. They are not. Now come on. Tell me."

Bryan smirked: "I knew you had it. Don’t even bother playing dumb."

Now Hailie was terrified. "Wh-why didn’t it work on you?"

Bryan simply smiled. And then something weird happened. His eyes started to glow. They were glowing. They were glowing this beautiful neon blue. Hailie noticed her own vision was getting pink. She started to panic: "this-this has never happened before. What is-" Bryan simply turned her around so she was facing his car. she stopped talking when she saw herself in the car’s window. Her eyes were glowing. But that wasn’t weird. They were glowing pink. Then she saw Bryan’s eyes. They were glowing pink too.

And that's the last thing she remembered before everything went black.
