I finished eating and headed outside to play with Thomas. He politely asked me if I would play catch with him. "How old are you Thomas?" He giggled a little and held up four fingers. I tossed him the ball and he caught it. After a few hours in the yard, Thomas yawned so I picked him up and took him inside to his room.
His parents arrived home a little after that. "Where is Thomas?" "He got really tired from playing so I carried him inside and put him to bed. I hope you don't mind." "Of course not. I'm grateful you were here to look after him. He really likes you and he normally doesn't like anyone."
We said our goodnights and headed to our separate ways. I got to my room and relaxed on my bed. For once I no longer felt alone. I think I might go out here in a few minutes. Just to check out the new city. Even though it's dark outside. I feel like a different person because I use to love the dark and now I don't enjoy it as much.
I got up and headed outside. The street lights were pretty bright outside. I stay quiet walking down the road. Enjoying the view, when I started hearing footsteps behind me. I got concerned very quickly. The faster I walked the faster the footsteps sounded. This was frightening for me. This was a feeling I had never felt. I usually did the chasing.
I felt my heart racing. I wasn't sure what to do, I turned down an alleyway hoping that I would lose the person. I leaned against the wall when a set of hands slammed onto the wall beside my head. I looked up to see their familiar blue eyes looking back at me. "Hello, again darling." I got so flustered that I couldn't speak. His lips crashing into mine. I felt so much passion in his lips.
His lips were so soft against mine. I felt his hands traveling all over my body before we broke apart. He looked into my eyes. We were both breathing heavily. "I really need to know your name darling." "My name is Jackie. What's your name?" He let out a small chuckle. "My name is Jack." We laughed for a few moments. "What brings you to America Jackie?" "I needed a fresh start. How about you?" "It's the same." "Glad we made the choice to come to America. I'm glad we met." "So am I, but it's getting late. Shall I walk you home?" "Sure."
We walked hand in hand back to the apartment building. We stopped outside the building. "I must bid you goodnight, my lady." "Well, goodnight good sir." He leaned down and kissed me again. The passion of his kisses filled my soul. I longed for the next kiss. We finished kissing and he walked away as I went inside. Going into my room I fell on my bed. With a big smile on my face and fell fast asleep.
The lady of the house woke me up the next morning. "Jackie! Jackie, wake up honey. There has been a murder in the neighborhood." I sat up in bed quickly. "What? Oh my goodness, What happened?" "A young woman's throat was cut." All the killings I had done came flooding back in my mind, but I knew I hadn't killed anyone. I climbed out of bed and headed to the kitchen.
"Good morning Jackie." "Good morning sir, what happened last night?" "One of the young women in the neighborhood was killed last night. The police have never seen anything so horrific." I lowered my head feeling so bad for past mistakes. The killing was as much fun as I had thought. I didn't want anyone else to die. Then the thought hit me. Jack the Ripper must have been on the ship with me and I didn't know. I never met him in the first place. The only person I had talked was Jack.
He couldn't be Jack the Ripper. The names being the same doesn't mean anything. He was too nice too full of passion. I just can't wait to see him again. Thinking about him I no longer cared that a woman had died. The blue eyes meant so much to me. Or even them soft lips. I must have started blushing because madam asked if I was okay. "Yes, mam I'm okay. Thanks for asking."
She gave a nod and headed out the door for work and her husband followed suit. Leaving me with little Thomas. He finally got up and headed to the kitchen. "Jackie, I'm hungry." "Okay." I handed him a plate of food. "Thomas, when you finish eating and go get ready we will go out for a walk today." He gave a bright smile and hurried to finish eating. I started washing the dishes as he went to get ready for the day.
We headed outside and Thomas ran around. Jumping and laughing and having so much fun. We headed back as it started to get dark knowing his parents would be home by then. Little Thomas was so tired that I ended up carrying him back home. I opened the door to the house to see a bloody mess everywhere. His parent's bodies by the front door and their throats were slit.
I ran out the door with Thomas still in my hands. "Police! Police! Help!" Poor Thomas woke up by my screams. The police ran up and I pointed to the door. I had tears running down my face as well as Thomas crying too. "Shh baby it's okay. It's going to be okay." All I could do is hold this baby as he cried and I cried too. The police took statements from me and got the bodies moved to the morgue.
That night was so rough. Thomas wouldn't leave my side and I was trying to figure out who could do such a thing to these sweet people. The curiosity was eating me alive. I knew what I had to do. I would raise Thomas as my own. In what little time I knew this little boy I grew to love him so much. I just couldn't believe he was having to go through this at such a young age.
I promised him and myself I would find out who killed his parents. If it took the rest of my life. Even if it killed me. I would make sure whoever did this would pay for their crime. I just feel this is going to be harder than I ever imagined.
