Chapter 6
The bell rang for bedtime at 7:30pm. In a single file, all Hemon hall students left the hall in order
"I'm so tired" Jacqueline said as she changed into her night clothes
"Me too" Wendy replied. She played with the water next to her bed by making it swirl round the room.
"Hey Charice,. Please pass me my weapon. It's on the floor by your bed"
Charice looked at the weapon and made it float to where Jacqueline was.
"Thanks"
Everyone got in bed ready for lights out. They all said their good nights to each other. Jacqueline turned off the light switch as usual with her dagger.
In minutes, they were fast asleep except for Amelia of course. She had a meeting with Jeran. She tip toed out of the room, down the hall till she got outside.
She spotted Jeran on the floor beside a tree already waiting for her
"Hey" she said
"Hello" he stood up and took her to the far end of the forest where they could not be seen
"No one can see us here. We'll meet here " Jeran whispered
She nodded in approval
"Let's get started. I assume the first thing you learned was protection"
"Yes sir"
"Where's your wand?"
She brought it out of her pocket
"I want you to cast a spell on to protect yourself with all your might"
"I tried" she said hopelessly "Nothing seems to work"
"Try harder this time"
Jeran moved back, giving her space to cast the spell. Amelia took a deep breath and started.
"For the protection of my body's all. I therefore conjure a crystal ball"
At the wave of her wand, a ball had formed around her. She started floating mid air
"I did it" she cried out happily
Although, her happiness didn't last for long as her ball popped and she fell to the floor.
Jeran helped her get on her feet
"Why don't you take off your gloves" Jeran said
Amelia's eyes widened in terror
"No. Something terrible will happen"
"I'm aware but that's what you think. These gloves are limiting your source of power because you're scared. You have the power to hurt someone without your gloves only if you want to"
Reluctantly, she took off her gloves and gave them to him. He took a step back
"Focus. You can do this" he told her
With a wave of her wand and all the concentration she had, she casted the spell again.
"For the protection of my body's all, I therefore conjure a crystal ball"
The ball formed around her lifting her up in the air. She expected it to pop but it didn't. Jeran shot fire at it but nothing happened.
"I really did it!" Exclaimed a happy Amelia
"I knew you could. Now come down slowly and gently"
Amelia controlled the ball with her mind to take her to the ground. She waved her wand and it popped.
She ran to Jeran and hugged him. He spun her around then dropped her.
"Thank you so much" she said
"No, thank you. How do you feel?"
"Incredible. I feel like I can do anything"
"That's because you can. It's all in your mind"
"When do we meet again?"
"Next week. People might notice if we meet everyday"
As much as Amelia wanted to learn everyday, she thought about the possibilities of being caught.
"Alright. Thanks again"
Amelia smiled. For the first time in her life she felt like she was good at something.
"I won't let you down I promise" she said
"I hope so. Get going"
She hurried out of the woods, tip toed carefully down the hallway and back safely into her bed like nothing ever happened.
She sighed happily
"I can't wait for tomorrow" she thought
