Few moments passed, Tyler went back to my room after he’s done answering a phone call. I’m still hovering some boxes to arrange into my new room. Thank God, our classes are still suspended so I have the time to stay up all night and take care of my things.
“Hey, I have to attend on something. Will you be fine?” He asked.
I only nodded. Kinda disappointed. He told me few minutes ago that he wants to leave all the heavy works for him but he’s going out instead.
Stupid! I shouldn’t feel like this. He is not my boyfriend nor husband so shut the hell up self!
“What time will you be home?” I asked and just with that his face wrinkles made me realized that I crossed the fucking line.
Why so stupid Keya?
“Oh sorry!” I immediately supplied. “I forgot, it’s none of my business.”
“Yeah it is.” He agrees and left my room again.
I sighed when I heard a couple of doors opening and closing.
“You’re here for one thing Keya!” I said sighing as I started to go work again. “You’re only here for the baby!”
I remind myself.

I think Tyler didn’t come home last night, or maybe he has but maybe I am already gone to bed like just around nine. I was so exhausted from moving in so I passed out on the bed earlier than usual and woke up kind of late today.
I throw myself out of bed and surveyed my whole room, it is still full of boxes that I decided to remain unmoved just because I’m just temporarily staying here anyway. Once I give birth and maybe after Tyler and I discuss the terms of our situation then for sure I have to move out. However, as of now the room is coming together and that I should relax and stay here for free while I still can.
Even just a tiny thing, I have to be thankful. At least I don’t have to spend any money for rent right?
I heard my stomach growl and I suddenly felt like that was the baby’s voice telling me that he’s already hungry—or maybe she. What? I suddenly smiled as I left the room because I started to feel excited about my baby’s gender. I know, I’m still way too far from that but I guess this kind of excitement is totally part once you became a mother yourself.
Wow! I just realized, this was the first time that I felt so excited about my pregnancy.
When I went outside of my room, I’m not going to lie that the corridors and several doors I passed got me confused and anxious as to where I can find the doorway leading to the kitchen. I don’t have any groceries with me and I’m already way too hungry to go the nearest restaurant or supermarket to grab some food.
Tyler won’t surely get angry with me if I ask for some food coming from his fridge, right?
It took me five minutes finding out which door until I found the way leading to the kitchen. The house seems so silent and shouldn’t surprise since Tyler is the only person who lives here and his dog according to him.
I wonder if he’s still sleeping though.
I made myself comfortable in his massive kitchen, I opened the fridge and majority of what’s inside are just bottles of different beverages. He’s really a guy indeed and based on what I see cooking isn’t happening that much in here. There’s only two trays of eggs-- untouched and a several packs of bacon and that’s just it. I grabbed two eggs and look for some bread if there has.
I decided to open the cupboards not until I noticed a small doorway just next to the oven, he has a massive pantry. I got excited to go head there and check it out myself. As I check out different shelves, there are way too many seasonings to choose from and gazillion packs of energy drinks and supplements.
“What?” I muttered in complete awe since how can he have the guts to buy all these grocery items when he’s clearly not cooking at all? I suspect.
I saw a pack of sliced bread and grabbed it. He won’t mind I guess, and I’ll just replace it once I’m able to buy my own groceries later.
However instead of going straight back to my room, out of curiosity, I found myself walking and deciding to roam around the house. Tyler didn’t bothered to give me a tour around the house yesterday, if he wants me to stay hidden within the house I might as well learn which part of the house I should avoid by checking it out myself right?
I know how stubborn of me to do it because Tyler might be just inside his room sleeping and he told me to stay in my room but I decided to break his rule and roam around his house during the first day. I mean, I can’t help it, I have never been on a mansion before and based on the house’s interior design it made me so curious to see how beautiful his house is.
I walked past through the huge dining room with an open mouth seeing a beautiful chandelier just above the dining table. I made it to another room or more like a hall full of hockey jerseys put on a frames and more photos of Tyler in the walls. There is a pool and Ping-Pong table at the center of the room, couple of chairs in the other corner and on the other side is a shelf filled with trophies.
I heard my stomach groaning again but I totally ignored it and decided to roam around the house furthermore, my curiosity and awe made me forget how famished I am at the moment. I made it to the living room and the whole place is so bright due to massive windows and with walls painted in soft grey, white furniture with a little bit of a touch of green coming from fresh plants on every corner of the room. The windows are overlooking the swimming pool and outdoor living room slash kitchen.
Honestly, I am thinking that I haven’t fully saw all the parts of the house but this is so big that I can’t even imagine myself living at this type of a house. It’s too posh for me, and yet! I am here.
Don’t get too overwhelmed Keya, Tyler have no choice but to let you live here. I remind myself sighing.
“Where’s Tyler?”
I flinched when I heard a voice coming from my back causing me to drop the bag of sliced bread I am holding. I turned right away completely scared when I see a man standing behind me.
“Where’s Tyler?” He asked again wearing a wondering face as he studies the items I am holding. I can really tell that he’s might be thinking that I broke inside the house and stole some goods, that’s for sure.
I picked the bread and blinked a couple of times right before answering. “Uhm… I don’t know. Did you check out his room?”
“Yeah. He’s not there. And he’s not answering his phone.” He answered looking straight at me—studying me. “Hey you look familiar, have we met before?”
Indeed, he looks familiar too.
“Oh wait, I remembered!” He said. “You’re the waitress at Steve’s diner, was it?”
I raised my brows remembering him too, he was the guy I thought who’s checking me out at the diner. What was his name again? Mark? Michael?
“Yeah, I remembered.” I said nodding.
“I’m Martin Connors.” He introduced.
Right, Martin. Mark and Michael are a little far but at least I got the first letter. He’s now smirking at me as he points his fingers at me.
“I knew I was right that day you’re the same Keya, Tyler was talking about.” He supplied.
“Wait—what do you mean?” I immediately asked because that is completely weird considering that Tyler wants this whole thing to be secret. He doesn’t even want me to get out of my room when his friends are over and yet he’s telling them about me. “Yo-you know that I w—“
I didn’t get to finish because he already answered. “Tyler told me that he knocked up someone, and he accidentally mentioned your name.”
“Y-you know Tyler got me pregnant?” I asked again still surprised.
He nodded. “Tyler didn’t mentioned that you are living with him.”
“Oh! I just moved in here yesterday.” I answered. “My dorm house was hit by the tornado few days ago and he was kind enough to let me live here.”
Martin didn’t responded and just busied himself tapping something on his phone, probably dialling Tyler’s name and then cursed right away in a second.
“Did he at least tried to tell you where he went?”
“No.” I replied.
“You should have tried asking him.” He replied
“I did, but he brushed me off right away.” I replied slowly walking. “Anyway, I have to go cook for breakfast. You better try to call him again until he picks up.”
“Nah, I’m good.” He replied following me as I head back to my room. “He’s clearly not here anyway. I might as well just stick around you mentioned breakfast anyway.”
I turned at him surprisingly grinning as I shake my head because of the surprise. Tyler’s friend is quite nice and cool, unlike him, Tyler is obnoxious and really mean if I’m honest.
“Woah. Where are you going miss? The kitchen is this way.” He said stopping me.
I turned and nodded.
“That is his kitchen, my assigned kitchen is over there.” Pointing to the direction where I am actually heading. “I’m not even allowed to hang around the house so please don’t mention this to him or I’ll be homeless.”
He looked at me confused for like ten seconds right before talking.
“Well—okay.” He said and I know he is still trying to decipher what I have said.
I smiled.
“Nice to meet you Martin. Again, don’t mention this to Tyler.” I said and continue making my way out of Tyler’s section of the house right before he gets back.
